Idle/Driveability issue

A recent issue has popped up with my Talon. Here are the symptoms.

Upon startup, idle is ~1k, idles fine for 5 seconds, and dies. I restart it and it holds for a few seconds, and dies. When I pedal it to keep it running and its warmed up, it has a hard time revving past ~4k. It gets to 4k, hesitates and stutters for a few seconds, and moves on slowly. I have my ISC, EGR, FIAV blocked and unhooked, which I believe is causing me to throw check engine lights. Can anybody shed any light on the situation?? Could it be ECU related? Timing? I checked all my charge/vacuum pipes and everything seems ok.

Mods are: 16g, 255lph fuel pump, 550cc injectors

Brand new head gasket, studs, all gaskets, clutch, etc.

Thanks

Re: Idle/Driveability issue

Check cam/crank timing today, its dead on. Ecu looks fine, caps aren't leaking.

Any thoughts?

Massive vac leak or weak fuel pump.

Re: Idle/Driveability issue

Well upon closer inspection the ecu seems to have some issues. It does have the dead fish smell, however it is pretty faint. Also, there is another elevated board,(at the bottom of this picture: http://www.dsmisc.com/dsmweb-dw/_images/ecudrivers.jpg ) and the black circle is sort of gooey. I'm not really sure how to describe it. I think it might be time for a new ecu.

Re: Idle/Driveability issue

wait...you blocked off the whole ISC/FIAV unit? did you do it with a plate?

IF SO, do a boost leak test, and that should solve all your problems.

I do not believe that the ECU can cause the engine to rev that high with adjusting timing/fuel.

I had my FIAV unhooked, and guess what? super high idle, put back the stock hoses and BAM!!! fixed my idle problem

Re: Idle/Driveability issue

Well I've done some work over the last few days. Heres where it is now:

Car will pop off and run for half a second, then dies. I cannot keep it running at all.

I have:
-checked crank/cam timing; its dead on
-replaced the intake mani gasket
-checked spark on all four plugs, they fire fine when its cranking
-tried a different set of injectors
-tried a different good ecu
-tried every position on the CAS, no effect

The ISC/FIAV is blocked off with cold weld. Kind of poor, but I was trying to eliminate them out of the equation on an extra throttle body. I'm going to try to track/make down a boost leak tester in the next few days.

Anything else I should be looking into?

Maybe I didn't catch it, but what do you have for a MAS sensor and fuel management?

MAS signal wires hooked up?
Any CEL?
CTS working? (coolant temp sensor)
