Re: Subaru vs. 2g?

A real man would get a STI.

But I am definitely biased.

Don't you mean an Evo? JK LOLZZZZ

I would get a WRX over a 2G. But I would get an 05 WRX personally, not a fan of the new body style AT ALL. The 08/09's are gay in every aspect, except the 09 sports a higher power EJ25T (or whatever the engine code is now).

I happen to like the EJ20T's, they make decent power and are fun. Not sure but I think the newer WRX's have open front diffs, anyone else know about this? I'm pretty sure the 02-05 had viscous LSD's in the front (hey better than nothing right?).

2G's are awesome, but the WRX would be a bit more fun I think, they have better balance and corner really well. As far as power, I think the 2G could be faster with the same amount of modding money in a straight, but again the WRX is still a better car.

Re: Subaru vs. 2g?

Oh and yeah a Ralliart that's tuned, would probably walk an STi depending on the STi year.

I also agree with this, as well.

Evo wasn't listed in his options, and you know I gotta pimp the STI skills. If I had to give advice, I'd say get one of each (Evo and STI). They look like pure sex together.

I know I was just giving you shit, and as far as pure sex together, for sure. Shane's garage is very fortunate, haha.

Re: Subaru vs. 2g?

I bought a brand new 04 WRX in 04 just for the sake of having a brand new car. When It started feeling like any other used car after about 6 months, I decided I needed an STi instead, but had to wait three years to get it. Waay better car. I guess what I'm trying to say is get the better of the two cars by getting it used (STi FTW). New is completely overrated IMHO

WRX new = 25k

STi / EVO New = 33-35k

WRX + 1k in mods = 26k and is faster than both, obviously it is lacking in the suspension and creature comfort departments but the OP didnt really list those as things he cares about .

But, buy which car you like .....as long as it is the WRX.

Re: Subaru vs. 2g?

if i were you id find a car that someone put all their money into and now they are laid off or just plain broke from building up their car that now they are dumping it.

How often have we seen that allot of us DSM owners have plugged thousands into our cars only to get sick of it or decide to cut our losses and sell the cars at a fire sale price.
good for the purchaser especialy if your talkin about bringin the cash

as far as you wanting a wrx. The roseville police dept just seized a really nice one for drunk driving id contact them see what they want to sell it for i bet you could get it cheap. I heard they are having trouble selling it at the auction i cant see why though the car is friggen sweet.

Re: Subaru vs. 2g?

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe the older 08 model used ej20t motor with 2.0 displacement with a 13t turbo. The new one is a spin off of the ej25t that use to be in the STI's with either a 13t on it again, or something along the size of a 15 if i'm not mistaken. I know it's a different set up, so you can't swap from a 08-09 on the turbo's, but the basic set up is larger, more powerful. With the new 09 your getting a 2.5 STI motor from the old cars(08) with a less agressive tune from what i ran into when they were first coming out. Like i said, it's been a few months since i looked into it, but that's just off the top of my head.

If anyone can prove me wrong, please do.

WRX's started coming with 2.5's in 2006-2007 model year and have had them since.

Re: Subaru vs. 2g?

Ok, they did. Know what turbo they had on them? I thought something changed motor wise from the 08-09.

Re: Subaru vs. 2g?

Not sure about the newer ones, but I know 04-05 WRX's still used the TD04, while the STi had the VF39. Not sure what they went with 06 and after

Re: Subaru vs. 2g?

Sounds like a form of the VF turbo, i've seen vf38 and vf39 listed. Sounds like the 2.5 wrx from i think 2006 and on sounds good!
