Yellow snow? rear leaking?
Ok so my car has been sitting out for the past few days and when I go to put it in tonight I have a yellow circle under the rear lsd, about 10" in diameter in the snow. What's up with that?

Re: Yellow snow? rear leaking?
Maybe it just feels frozen since it dripped on to pure ice?

When in doubt, smell it.

Wouldn't piss have melted that area too? You know like left an indentation or something. That must of been something that wasn't warm.

Re: Yellow snow? rear leaking?
yeah, it looks kinda dark. A lot like gear oil. I would check it out pretty soon.

Re: Yellow snow? rear leaking?
The cold is pobably shrinking the seal around 1 or both of your axles, which would make it leak, or the metal contracted a little around the plug and some leaked out... but then more would have leaked out.
The cold weather shrinks all rubber gaskets/seals so everything leaks easier.

Re: Yellow snow? rear leaking?
Just look at your pinion seal and axle seals, if they're coated in slime they're leaking. Should be pretty obvious if it is leaking.

Re: Yellow snow? rear leaking?
That stuff shouldn't freeze unless you put some water in the reservoir.
