I have a 98 GSX without a rear LSD. I was wondering what parts I would need to put a factory unit in. Will I be able to just install the LSD or will I have to install the entire LSD rear end? Is there an aftermarket unit that will fit in my rear diff? I have been surfing many sites for this and haven't found much of anything.

Thanks,
-J

I think everything else is the same. I think the only part that is different is the LSD unit vs. the stock diff. I may be wrong, but Mitsu doesn't seem to like making a whole lot of things different between cars. I'm really surprised that Mitsu even built AWD's without the rear LSD. That sucks. I think any replacement LSD would work in it (Quaife, Kazz, etc.)

Rear LSD was an option until 1998. I have come across a 2G AWD without LSD in the rear, but I haven't paid that much attention unless it was broke. I have seen some 1G AWDs without the LSD rear diff though.

Phantom Grip only makes front LSDs for the DSMs.

Quaife does not make one for the rear of the DSMs. Only the front and center diff.

Kaaz does make one for the rear of my non-LSD GSX but it is 1000.00 plus you need to but new rear axles and some other misc. factory parts which adds another 500-600 onto the price. I don't want to spend that much.

Does anyone have a factory 95-99 LSD rear end laying around they want to get rid of?

CarPart.com
Enter the year you want, then Mitsubishi Eclipse, then Carrier (See Also Differential), then All States, hit Search, then select Locking, then hit Search and then choose the one you want from about three pages of listings.

When Devin was telling me about it I it was the 2nd week I'd owned a DSM and was looking at LSD's for my FWD. When he talked about it I thought he was talking about the rear, Sorry
