I started building this car with lots of hopes and aspirations. Over time I have lost interest and have moved to other projects. The tube chassis fits perfectly inside a 1G DSM shell. The chassis itself is made from 4130 Chromoly and fully tig welded. It weighs around 275 lbs. When complete the Eclipse would weigh just a hair over 2000lbs. The 4-link is a S&W racecars pro series and is 24" wide with strage coilovers. The car is setup for a 4G63 and a powerglide. The rear has Weld Alumastar 15x14 with MT ET Drags. The car comes with Buschur Racing 4G63 to GM Tranny adapter and an SFI flexplate. Steering, seat & pedals are complete. You need to finish up the front suspension, tin the car, get a fabbed rear housing, diff and install brakes. This is a massive project, but it is something very unique that hasn't been done before. I am selling everything as a package for $4000. It is a complete steal, considering a welded chassis alone will run you about 5000-6000, not to mention all the parts included. The raw materials and parts are worth about 7000. The labor cost will be probably exceed $4000. Below you can find a full list of the parts included and their price as well as some pictures.
You're right, Steve. It's kinda sad considering the hundreds of hours that went into it, but it will take too much cash to finish it. I've decided to focus my attention on my Talon and try to run a 9. It's a lot less hassle and also I get to drive the Talon around. This thing is a 100% trailers queen.
The chassis is not certified, but it can be for about $200-250. Jim Bongard (NHRA Chassis guy for our region) has seen it back in the day. If someone is serious about it, I will get it certified. The car is build around the SFI 25.1e specs which is 7.49 or quicker and max of 2800lbs.
