No start due to fuel, please look.

So sat. night i went out and the car was driving fine, got to a friends house after about an hour moved the car in the driveway and washed it.

1-2 hrs after washing the car, time to leave. I crank the car and nothing. Well I have a AFPR and gauge, no FP.
I also have a volt gauge hooked directly to the fuel pump (top of sending unit) and its shows 0.

After a while I find that the fuel pump side of the connector in the back of my 1g has "shorted" (doesn't work anymore), so we cut the power wire before the connector and wire it directly to the pump.

When I was cranking, about the 4-5 time i hopped out the car and my wife was in teh pass. side, said she was smoke I looked and it was a thin trail rising up, it was above the steering column.

I hadn't changed anything since driving the car the previous night, so I'm not sure what it could be.

Can I get some help figuring this out, I did a fuel pump rewire last night and now I get 14v at idle instead of 12.0-12.3, but I don't want to band aid what could be a serious issue.

I did a fuel pump rewire to get rid of the temp/get me home rewire, I now have 13.9 at idle instead of low 12s for voltage and pressure is still 43.5.

Now it just runs like ass, i swapped in a diff. MPI/MFI relay and it seems to run a lot longer than it did with the old one. It appears that my fuel trims will not update.

I also tested my ISC (ohm'd coils) and it was good.

Re: No start due to fuel, please look.

Any clue why it would happen? I had it recently serviced and the car now runs, just like crap and won't update the fuel trims.

I can still connect dsmlink and make changes. I'll see if i can find a way to test it.

Re: No start due to fuel, please look.

I figured out it was a wiring issue, i'm gonna run the car with no plastics on the inside just incase, but all should be good now.

^Basically.
I think my cutout was drawing too much power and my power distribution block I think ended up being a huge fail.

Re: No start due to fuel, please look.

Can I just ask why your are running a fuel pressure of 43.5 on a 1g? Stock FP is 37 and there really shouldn't be a need to change it, even with E85 I believe. Increasing your fuel pressure past stock won't really do anything, might cool the engine a little bit more but from what I know it should be at 37psi.

And I would bet that the reason your FP wiring failed is because you are running a walbro 255 on stock wiring, and don't try to tell me that it can handle it because it can't obviously.

Most injectors are base flowed at 43.5psi. So for setting up global on link the ideal base pressure is 43.5.

As pointed out, setting the fuel pressure at 43.5psi is what the injectors are rated at. When you run them at the stock 1g 36-37 psi base fuel pressure, you are effectively making the fuel injectors smaller.

Re: No start due to fuel, please look.

Stock FP on an auto is 43.5.

Bert, hundreds of people have run 255 on stock wiring, hell some people have run 2 255 pumps on stock wiring for at least a year with no issues.

Please don't try to tell me about tuning and fuel pressure when you obviously have no clue, I'd love to see increased fuel pressure used for cooling.
