Snow Tires?

So I snow plow in the winter and drive my FWD N/A Eclipse to the place where we are going to be plowing.

I am going to be driving this car when conditions are going to be bad on the roads. Can anyone recommend a good snow tire to use?

I am considering just turning my car into a rally car now
Fog lights would be an improvement also...

Re: Snow Tires?

The Bridgestone Blizzak is a great snow tire, but can be on the expensive side depending on your budget. I have been having good luck with my new Falken Ziex's so far this winter, they are a bit cheaper and still good quality all-season tires. But then again I have AWD also.

Re: Snow Tires?

Blizzacks are very good tires, but like he said, very expensive.

If you want a cheap, but decent performing snow tire - check out the MagnaGrip snow tire at your favorite local Goodyear dealer.

Re: Snow Tires?

x3 on the Blizzaks. It's no secret that I'm a fan of the current generation of Goodyear Aquatred called the Assurance. Do NOT get the ComfortTred variant, get the performance/handling variant called the TripleTred.

If you're going to be using these as winter tires only, get yourself a set of lightweight, cheap steel wheels and paint them black (or yellow).

Re: Snow Tires?

I've been super happy with my Goodyear UltraGrip Ice. This is my third winter on them (and they were used when I got them), still a lot of tread left.

General Altimax Artics:

They're cheap, super insane effective in the snow, and are not aweful in the dry if inflated properly. I'm *very* happy with mine

Re: Snow Tires?

I just bought a set of Firestone Winter Forces for my car and I absolutely love them. They are amazing through the snow! I'd highly recommend them. The tires that Scheides has are supposed to be great too.

Buy off ebay if you can too. I got my tires from Discount Tire's ebay store and saved about $75 off what they would have been if I bought them straight through Discount.

Re: Snow Tires?

Thanks, I like the ones scheides has on his car. It looks like good reviews plus not expensive. I think anything over what I have now would be an improvement. Now to go find 4 steel rims, or aluminum, whichever is cheaper...

I will post winter pix as soon as I can!
