Re: Very Bad Vibration

All the motor mounts are from before the swap and looked good when I cleaned them up. I will check in the morning to make sure they are all tight but i'm almost positive they are.

Re: Very Bad Vibration

just grab the engine or use a lever and see how much you can move it. Hard to tell what the issue is from there, but if your T-case is tight to the trans, trans tight to the engine, and you see it move in the video, then the whole assy is probably moving.

Re: Very Bad Vibration

Well fixed the hanger, problem still happens. No idea what to try next besides new driveshaft.

Re: Very Bad Vibration

Could anything in the t-case or tranny cause this vibration? Really need it fixed or i'm going back to fwd for a while.

I feel like if you believe every mount is perfect and every bolt tight it's time to take things apart

Re: Very Bad Vibration

I've double and triple checked. Everything is tight. Only things it could be would be driveshaft which looks to be ok, trans or t-case.
What in the trans or t-case would cause that tho?

Vibration only happens under acceleration but, not just wot. Normal driving around too.
Vibration gets more intense with RPMs/ speed
Vibration goes away as soon as I let off the gas and coast or if I push in the clutch it will also go away.
Can rev it and no noises are heard and nothing is felt.
With all 4 wheels off the ground and tires off and rotors bolted to hubs it still vibrates.
Can feel it in the steering wheel as well as in the butt seat.

Re: Very Bad Vibration

If it stops once you let off throttle, that would make me think transmission. I mean if you're still coasting at 55mph your t case is still working so that would eliminate it I would think. Unless I'm high.

Sounds like in your trans to me.

Re: Very Bad Vibration

Maybe one of these guys who say building a trans is cake should chime in. Is the clutch properly adjusted? May have something to do with the clutch acting funny. If not when the trans is out. Grab the input and out put shafts and wiggle wiggle jiggle. Sorry I'm not more help but that's what I would do if it was mine

Re: Very Bad Vibration

No play on the input shaft. Output shaft has it's normal in/ out play. I'll take a pic the axle I was mentioning later.
Going to either grab Blake's or Mark's driveshaft and if it still does it then the tranny will come out.

If it is only under load it could be a driveshaft u joint. Swap driveshafts like you plan on doing, if it is still there after I would check the trans shaft bearings. It sounds like a bad intermediate shaft bearing. Pop the end cover of the trans off quick and check for play on the end of the intermediate shaft. You can fully inspect the outer input/intermediate shaft end bearings with trans in car but you have to pull the second section of the trans case after the end cover.

Re: Very Bad Vibration

I feel like I would mess something up haha but I will try the driveshaft and report back. Thank you!

So I just unbolt the cover and will be able to check for play? Nothing will fall out like those 2 oil things will it?
Also wouldn't u-joints still cause an issue no matter acceleration or deceleration?

Does it get worse as you get closer to 5th gear?

Re: Very Bad Vibration

it will vibrate sooner..so yes? First it wont do it till like 3k in 3rd it will vibrate as soon as I give it any throttle.
I feel like I keep contradicting myself whether it's rpm or speed related lol

Often times under load only. If there is play in a u joint it can cock under load becoming misaligned and therefore unbalanced causing a vibration on accel. Usually regardless of the gear just load. I don't think this is your problem.

Because it is both rpm and speed related and mainly load. To me it sounds like your describing a bad intermediate shaft tapered roller end bearing.

^ saying this I'm assuming the vibration is just the roughness from a bad transmission bearing vibrating through the car under load. And that all your driveshaft angles, u joints, and cv joints are good.

Did you swap driveshafts yet?
