Might be looking into cams soon..

Sometime in the near future I will be looking for a set of cams. I just want to get this out there now to see my options. What I'm looking for are: 264/264's. 264/272's. maybe 272/272. Or fp1's ect.. I am somewhat on a budget so 272/272's are kinda pushing it for the prices I've seen. Just let me know!

Re: Might be looking into cams soon..

They are sold out so I can't even see their price. Also I only want to go with 272/272 if I have to cause I'm running the evo3.

The Brian Crowers are only 300ish. They come in and out of stock every three months or so. Just keep an eye on them and they will be in stock sooner or later. Seem to be well liked and perform quite well too.

Advice as far as what NOT to do, I would NOT recommend getting FFWD's regrinds.

$300 for the pair or each? I'm guessing each.

How much better are those than stock? Are they somewhat like 264's?

And Halon thanks for the advice.

Is that a fact or a wild shot in the dark? Proof?

neither. If it were a fact I would have sited it. If it were a shot in the dark I would have made them sound much better . If you can tell me exactly what the 264/272/280 numbers mean that would be great. I've had a number of other people mention to me that the evoIII cams are just a little bit smaller than 264s.

Re: Might be looking into cams soon..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 264/272/280 numbers refer to how long the duration is.

Re: Might be looking into cams soon..

I thought there was a thread on it a while ago but I searched and couldn't find it. Duration sounds like a legit answer. Anybody care to back it up?

Re: Might be looking into cams soon..

It's advertised duration, which can mean next to nothing when comparing one brand of cam to another. Cam specs don't tell anything about the real shape of the ramp profile, but usually lift is the most important spec as far as making power, then duration at .050", and then advertised duration. Tomei says the lift on the Evo 3 cam was 9.5mm and 252 advertised duration. Better than the stock DSM cams.

Re: Might be looking into cams soon..

^alright, I stand corrected. evoIII cams could be considered a "252." Any idea what the duration for stock cams are?

Re: Might be looking into cams soon..

I believe stock is around 248 "ish". I remember reading about it awhile ago but can't seem to find the thread anymore. Anyway, if I can't find any 264's or 272's I will definately take your evo3 cams. I'm sure they would work good with the evo3 turbo too.

Re: Might be looking into cams soon..

You should be able to find 264s or 272s around, everyone seems to be going bigger these days, if you are gonna upgrade make it worth while and get the 264/272s
