1992 civic vx VTEC-E

Make: Honda
Model: Civic vx
Year: 1992
Miles: 163k
price: 2k obo
Description: I have a red 92 vx hatch for sale, its never been modified before. It was a prior flood vehicle but the guy who owned it at that time completely stripped the car down and dried everything out. I had some plans for it but im just not into hondas the way I used to be. This comes with a factory 5wire wideband, the one that came with it is no good and needs to be replaced. This car was rated at 57mpg from the factory.

Good
original d15z1 vtec e engine
Brand new napa battery
New cap,rotor,plugs and wires
little rust on both sides of 1/4 panels.
never been abused
subframe from a 95ex with brakes and sway bar
brand new pass side upper control arm
35mpg (needs a new 5 wire o2 sensor) mileage could be alot better.
smooth shifting lx transmission.
newer all season 14" kuhmo tires

Bad
prior flood title
pass mirror is broken
no driver side window crank
dont have the vx manifold with cat, just an manifold off a ex.
Exhaust rattle-used a coupe exhaust that I trimmed down to fit the hatch with a type R axle back.

Re: 1992 civic vx VTEC-E

so are you saying it only gets 35 mpg because it isn't kicking into lean burn mode? I may potentially be interested...

is the lx tranny from a d15b7? I assume its shorter gearing than the VX original trans.?

The LX trans should be off a D15B7. Which are shorter geared than the VX if i remember right.

The VX's were made to get amazing gas mileage.

Yes not having the 5 wire o2 sensor is causing it not to go into lean burn mode. I have a link somewhere where you can get a replacement o2 sensor for like 130. Better than paying napa like 350. And yes the lx trans is shorter geared, I bought that cause the vx trans that came with the car was locked up.

saw this was sold... hopefully it sold to someone who will keep running the z1 and not ruin this cars gas mileage potential by swapping it out!
