Is the manifold on the quest steel or cast iron? If it is cast steel it wouldn't be a problem, if it is cast iron I can weld it, but there won't be any guarantees. It likes to crack near the weld on cast iron, especially when heated and cooled a lot. It wouldn't be very expensive. I don't do turbo rebuilds, there is a place on the SW side of the cities that does. It is a diesel shop I think.
Isn't the 17c a mitsu turbo? It uses an 8cm exhaust housing if I remember right and a TD06 compressor side. Flow should be ~10% more than a 16g (similar to a B16g).

Unfortunately it's made of cast iron
I believe this model of 17c has the td05 also, and although it's a mitsu turbo it comes off a cyclone/typhoon.

Well, the weld "should" hold for quite a while, but I like to under-promise and over-deliver. I will probaly V-notch the weld to give it more surface to grab onto. Cast iron has a lot of impurities in it too, so it likes to cause porosity in the weld. It may not look quite as pretty as normal.
Is there a reason why you wouldn't just get a B16g? I am guessing price, but I have seen them pretty cheap since can get a new one for like $535.

Well the 17c was my 'dream' turbo, in terms of moderate size combined with fast spool. I wasn't intending huge boost, just something in the middle i guess.
But yeah, a S16g is a better choice in this case i believe, and even saying that, I don't know if im going to keep my car so i probably shouldn't start another stage of modding.

17c? S16G? Is this 1999? Those turbos are terrible.

...I do hope you're kidding.
Not all of us want HUGE drag set-ups on our cars. These "small, outdated" turbos are perfect for a lot of people.

What they are saying is that there are much more efficient smaller turbo's out there. Like a Evo 16g or B16g.
Alright, now back on topic or make another thread!

Can you make a 2G MAS to cone filter adaptor? I see Extreme Motorsports makes one but $60 bucks seems a little on the high end.

I think they go for like $15 online and at shops besides Extreme.
