PLX Wideband O2

Well I am going to get either the R-300 or the R-500. Most likely just go with the R-300 since it is $150 cheaper but the R-500 has some added features that might be nice.

Has anyone ever heard of an output for knock sound? Here is the R-500 and what it has to offer...

The R-300 doesnt have the knock output or the EGT output specifically for each. It has analog outputs that would work with both but I dont know how well. Here is the R-300.

I'm looking for opinions. I dont know how rich it reads right now. I'm going to call PLX later when they open at 9am (PST) and talk to the tech person there about it.

Feel free to discuss. Thanks

Jake

I have the M-250 w/ gauge, works great. Use DSMLink for logging and tuning.

I agree. Get DSMLink (or better, like AEM, etc) and allow it to do the logging. You can hook up the PLX Wideband output to the ECU and DSMLink can log it. The features the PLX units you're looking at are better suited for cars that don't have a wonderful unit like DSMLink.

It's Pretty, but dam is the R-500 expensive. Way overkill IMO. I'll second the M-250. I have that and it's wired in for Dsmlink to read it. I got it from extremepsi. You could get that and have $300 left over for dsmlink. A/F is A/F. A $250 WB will tell you the same a $550 WB will tell.

Re: PLX Wideband O2

I have DSMlink. The thing is, I dont want to have to keep my laptop on the passenger seat when I am driving around. Plus when I am racing, I am looking straight forward, not at the passenger seat. I'd rather have the box mounted in the vent area or by the dash somewhere visible.

Re: PLX Wideband O2

I don't have my laptop on the passenger seat all the time either. I use my Palm Pilot sometimes as well. It has dsmlink loaded on it too. I guess I only make changes on race day mostly. I don't ever have to watch it on the seat because I never make a drastic change that would make it go from an A/F of 10.1:1 to 11.9:1 all at once. I make small conservative increments. Besides which I can usually guess by now how far up/down to move the sliders to achieve my desired A/F. It's all opinion though. I just see no reason to make daily A/F changes.

I have the PLX-M300 mounted on the steering column to solve that problem. It's about $55 more then the PLX-M250.

I was actually thinking that the R-500 would be kind of handy myself, even if I don't race all the time.
