ecmlink flexfuel

http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/ecm...upport.476383/
With tuners new website first thing I saw on there was this.

Anyone running this? Or have any experience tuning it etc. On here yet?

If so what are your experiences? What have you heard?

Seems cheap to do to the new car since its already full V3 with the speed density

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

the problem is it does not integrate boost with the fuel difference so you would still need to keep a close eye on the tune if my thinking is correct.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

I saw someone post that issue but never got a response. Would be nice since the car I'm currently flying out to look at has the boost controlled by the link now.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

i still don't believe link will automatically choose a safe boost level for you but I've also never ran boost control with link. now if you can set boost per min and max octane tables and the flex sensor chooses the table that could be something that would help for sure. Even so depending on how the car is tuned it could still be very dangerous to just assume its all taken care of. The only thing it does imo is test the fuel for you so you don't have to text with a tester, but you will still need to tune or drive accordingly

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

I'll be using it shortly, I was asking for it about three years ago. I'm not so worried about boost levels as I can change that if needed, I just like the interpolation between the two maps because E85 is rarely actually E85.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

I have everything at my house to do it. I’ll get around to putting it on soon. If anything I’m just going to use it to log the content. For how much I drive the car and how much my fuel constantly changes it will be very handy for me. No more testing it with a tester every time I want to get the car to its potential.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

^ that's basically what it's handy for IMO, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be able to control your boost for you, but I don't know either. For me by the time it's in your car it's a little late for testing if you were say hoping to go to a track etc. I think it is very cool and can be used as a tool for sure. For me it really doesn't make sense, but to some this is the best thing ever

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

I think of it like my Tahoe, I can put anything in between E10 and E85 without changing anything and it runs great. I'm all about convenience in my old age.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

^ but you don't have to worry about boost control in the Tahoe. I still think you would want a laptop in the car when filling up. Would be cool to have the sensor trigger a light or something to tell you it's on tune 1 or 2. Then you could turn your boost according to that as a safe starting point. I thought about using the sensor to go between e98 and e85, but I think I'll just test at the rail as an fittings make life easy and for us we have to drive to get our e85 and use cans and barrels, so everyone's situation is so different.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

I've thought about having a 2-stage boost controller and just using an input to switch between the two, but I'm not really concerned about having max boost all the time. I just like the idea because even a 10-point percentage change can affect driveability quite a bit. Or if I'm on a cruise and can't find an E85 station, I could always throw in premium and just keep my foot out of it til I can find an E85 station.

All of this will probably be moot as I'm probably just going to run pump all the time. I just want a fun street car, my street racing days are all but done.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

This new car is basically my dd. But a few of my wife's wedding clients have mustang and are already talking crap. So although I'd say 98% of my street racing days are over I have a few races I plan to do at some point.

And there is only an 1/8th miles track near me. So I don't plan to drag this car. Might see a track day here and there at cmp when my brother comes to visit but that'll be it.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

He'll no! They all drive mustangs. Will admit though one does have me worried. Our babysitters husband has what looks like a gt500 but only saw it as he pulled away after dropping her off 1time.
Looked and sounded mean as hell

And my next door neighbor has a s281 saleen I want to run also

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

Also I just got a nexus 7 (looks like a tablet) today from my brother for my birthday (last Friday) I opened it up at the restaurant but didn't even turn it on. It says it has internet, and what not. And my question is. The plug is the same as my phone. Do they happen to make an adapter so I could use this with the ecmlink? Adapter would have to convert the usb end of the link cable to the small phone size.

Re: ecmlink flexfuel

Or is there anyway to make the ecmlink Bluetooth or wireless so I can pick up the signal?
