Re: Automatic to manual
The true question is how good of a mechanic are you and do you have the right tools to do this?
If you were going to do this, have all the parts you need together. Don't start taking apart the car without having for example the manual transmission.
Get the pedals, shifter cables and all of that stuff first. Then take a weekend and start the conversion.
I am not sure but does the AWD automatic use the same engine/transmission mounts as the Manual AWD. I know there is a difference between the FWD and AWD?
If it were me, I would do the conversion if the parts are easier to get. I wouldn't want the hassle of buying someones used DSM and then finding out that I need to replace parts because the person who owned it abused the car.
Another thing to think about is if you have the manual transmission out of the car, rebuild the trans yourself or send it to get rebuilt by shep, TRE, or Jackson. Get a decent clutch also. Start on a solid driveline so you don't have to take it apart later. Or worse, worry about it breaking when you have higher HP. That and it sucks when the car grinds into gear.
Depending on your goals for the car, you would have to do that anyway if you buy a used manual DSM.
