Well after several long months of saving, and collecting parts. JENNY'S TALON is up and running.

I really want to thank John and Ryan of "LE performance" (members on this site)
For coming down yesterday and making an extra trip back to John's place to get a part I was missing. Thanks guys for always willing to lend a hand. They were up till 1:30am today helping.
After a little more work, and fixing some minor things by 3:30am I took it for the First official Test Drive. Came back with out a hitch.

I drove it into work today just incase something went wrong I wanted to make sure I was the one driving so I could listen/Feel is something's out of place.

Well beside the scare I got when I was going over the 494/France bridge(they are installing steel beams into the ground but I didn't notice it. So as I was cruising over they started hammering with there big ass crane. I thought I blew the rear diff or something) Anycase I got to work with out any problems.

The only major issue I found. The tranny that was supposed to be a "10" on a scale of 1-10 is more like a 3-4.

It grinds bad until the tranny fluid warms up and then it shifts ok. But I never tried "on boost" shifting, shifting above 4k RPM, and I was shifting slower then I ever did with my GS-T. Just incase it's just a matter of low Tranny fluid. (which I'm going to check tonight)

Other then that. There's is about 4 or 5 minor things that need work. Nothing that I shouldn't be able to fix tonight.

Sweet deal! One less non-running DSM. Hopefully she's happy with it.

hahahah,

she hasn't driven it yet!! haha I've been driving it all Day!

I don't have picts but I've updated her mod list on www.mn.dsm.org once we get pictures I'll post them there.

There are a few things left to fix before I'll hand the keys over.
Biggest thing is she'll have to pry me out of the driver seat. (Never gonna happen!)

-Speedo is off I'm guessing by 15mph. (needle points straight down when your stopped, must have happened when I installed the carbon fiber overlay)
-Auto Meter boost gauge isn't working (I'll have to check the line/tap)
-Needs an Alignment (slight vibration while driving with play in the steering wheel)
-Rear Defrost isn't working (the button doesn't light up so I'm thinking it's either the fuse or the button that's broke)
-Small Oil leak coming from the return line. (gasket needs to be replaced, which I'll due when I change the oil this weekend)
-Clutch engagement point needs to be raised (it hits about an inch off the floor right now)
-The Front Speakers don't turn on (rears work fine, need to check the wiring)

Going to shoot to add an N1 Exhaust system for it before spring. and hopefully a Walboro 255. But we'll see how the winter treats us.

Hmmm, that's weird, the tranny shifted great before, although it was much warmer out. Make sure you have good tranny fluid in there, none of that Mobil 1 garbage.

The speedo thing sucks, but should be easy to redo the needle. I got my fuel gauge needle off when putting my white face gauges on, I still haven't gotten it lined up correctly yet.

Yeah, getting the gauges to line up after putting overlay's in are a bitch. I remember it too us several attempts to get my fuel one so it was more accurate.

Well fixed the Speedo, the fuel gauge yesterday. (actually wasn't that hard only took me about 5 minutes. hardest part was taking the cover off)

I talked with Jet, and I agree with him. I'm going to raise the clutch pedal to see if that helps. (but with as much that was messed up from what ever happened prior to us picking it up I wouldn't doubt if the misshift didn't do something to the tranny? who knows?)

List of things needed/we replaced:
-New Head (when we took the other one apart it actually looked ok, with little sign of oil starvation at some point)
-All new Belts - (Balance shaft belts were broke)
-New Flywheel - (sheared off the motor)
-New Clutch - (flywheel might have wrecked the old one, but didn't want to take the chance)
-New Water Pump - (Just because)
-Both T Belt Tensioners (grinding so we replaced them)
-Balance Shaft Belt Tensioner - (grinding so we replaced them)
-New Head Gasket - (was blowing smoke so we replaced it)
-New ISC motor - (last one was shot)
-2G exhaust manifold - (1G was cracked in 4 places)
-All new exhaust Studs (only 4 were holding the 1G manifold on)
-New Exhaust manifold gaskets - (needed to be replaced)
-New Intake Manifold Gaskets - (last one cracked while trying to peel off the old head)
-Valve Cover Gasket - (Cheap enough)
-Spark Plug Gaskets - (cheap enough)

Also to be added the list this Weekend:
-Fix Oil leak
-Oil Change
-Check all lines (just so there's no issues in the future with either coolant or oil)
-Raise Clutch Pedal
-Check Tranny Fluid Level/look for leaks
-Install SAFC (Will be my first so if you have pointers feel free to post it up)
-Boost Gauge
-Install MBC (if Boost gauge is working)
-Vacuum the car (I made a mess yesterday, food.tools, slush, etc)
-Might install her Stereo if I'm not to lazy

All and all there isn't much on that list. That isn't typical or that I wouldn't of done on any Used car I buy.

I did the whole 60K tune up on all of my DSM's the week I bought them. Just becuase I wanted the motor to be as sound as possible.

We would have installed a new Oil pump on Jenny's Car but Funds ran out.

But at least It's as sound as we could get it at this time. And now has ARP head studs.

Although we are above our 12's for under 2K mark. Which wasn't that important or Our focus anyways, But more of something that would have been fun to accomplish. At least I know the motor is now sound and the car is running. Which is more of what we care about anyways. Moding it comes in time. We are just happy it's running.

And I don't know what it is about 1G's but I think I was actually having more fun driving her car yesterday then I have had in my 2G in a long time. I think it's something to do with the way the Cockpit is designed. Just feels like I'm in a Indy Car or shifter Cart or Something. That just makes driving it FUN IMO.

I think I might have gotten myself into trouble yesterday after handing Jenny the keys she was out till like 11pm Driving it around (she had to stop in to work and help close, she's asst. Manager now) getting used to the new clutch. But who can blame her. After sitting Shot Gun in my car for two and a half years. I'd want to drive too.

She's Loves it. And for her, this was her First Car that she's Bought with her own money and the first car she's Modified with her own money. So it has that special feeling to it.
