I have no money or desire to fix it now. It'll get done first thing when snow melts.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
So Sunday I finally got my lazy ass in gear and pulled my battery out for winter like 6 weeks after I put it away lol. It was dead but I bought a new smart charger that has it all charged up now and is in trickle mode now. I hope it didn't nuke the battery like last year (been traveling for work the last 4 out of 5 weeks and just didn't have much time). Last year I never unhooked it and the battery died and could not be brought back and I had to buy a new one. I have the AMS small battery, which is not great for leaving hooked up over winter obviously.
So I also forgot I got these back before I put my car down for winter (stock OEM idler pulley's).
What do you guys think? Reuse? These are my original OEM ones, they are worn and my fingernail hits the grooves but not too terrible. But I am not sure what bad ones look like. Obviously I need to something about my serp belt problems and seeing as how the pulley's were changed and now I am having problems I am considering going back to the OEM ones.

Just get new OEM ones, I should probably consider changing mine when I replace my acc belt this spring (it's about due).

That was one thing I considered. Maybe I should just do that, I know that will work fine. I guess I will see what pricing is like on them.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Can I get an overlay Scheides or another person who is an overlay wizard? Shane couldn't find my old FPblack dynos in the database when I was at DB last so I never got them. I don't think I ever got one for my two setups and was just curious on how my 2.2L works compared to my 2.0L. Sorry bored at work
Thank you to whoever can help me Just getting ancy for spring and car stuff again.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
When batteries die and are left out in freezing wheather, they freeze and get destroyed on the inside. Hopefully this mild winter didn't ruin your AMS battery and it will hold a charge.
Next time just disconnect the negative terminal, takes all of 30 seconds...

^I know, I forgot last year, was as simple as that.
I disconnected it this year and pulled it out. It's been on my new tender in my basement all year.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Honestly my personal favorite update to this thread:
No more car payment on the evo! Thank you tax return. Now I won't feel like a dbag for having a car payment and modding at the same time...feels real good.
As there is no snow i have thought lots about the car lately.
I am in the process of putting an order through MAP right now. As of right now I am ordering a new OEM serp belt and Shawn and myself are going to look into that when it gets warm out. However, Shane commented on my brakes being really weak last time he had the car and I agreed after I drove it, I think its time for at least pads. 30k miles on stock evo pads seems pretty solid.
I REALLY want girodisc 2piece rotors for some rotational weight savings but that will have to wait. My plan is this:
Ferodo DS2500's
ATE Super Blue
AMS SS lines or technafit to save a few bucks
I think Scheides has this setup essentially, any thoughts? Mostly street driven car really.
The only other question is do you guys think my rotors should be alright or is that a maybe? Turn them maybe? Or am I stuck buying new ones?
Thanks for feedback!

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Ferodo DS2500's are the BOMB but beware they do dust quite a bit!
Definitely get the rotors turned...I am going to be swapping in some MR 2-piece rotors on my car sometime this spring so you could get mine turned as cores if you want.
I say KISS and stick with stock lines, that's all I have on my car and they are fine. I did SS lines on my 8 on my second brake job, after 50k miles and/or some time I think it's about time to swap out the stock lines...up to you though, not a bad mod at all.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Awesome idea on the brakes, like scheides recommended get the rotors turned and throw on decent pads. I wouldnt do the brake lines unless you are expecting to get a fair amount of heat in the brakes then it makes sense, most street cars will never get that much heat. The biggest difference you are going to feel is getting new fluid, that alone will make the pedal much firmer just from not having old janky watery fluid. On the silver x, bleed the factory stuff out @ 10K and noticed an immediate diffence in the pedal feel.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
No SS lines it is. But going to buy pads and the serp belt then with the super blue. Add that to my list of shit to do this spring.
Thanks for the feedback guys.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
I'm not sure if I can do X rotors due to the size increase, but let me know when you swap stuff, Scheides, I'll give your stockers a shot.

Spaz can do the rear but the fronts will have about a half inch or so that the brake lathe wont hit towards the end.

Hmm, guess I will have to find somewhere else to do them then. Dealer maybe?

You sure? How much bigger are the X rotors over the VIII/IXs? I'm pretty sure when I did Matt D's that I had at least an inch and a half of bit clearance at the end.

Re: Dave's Evo X Build/The Life of Dave blog
Evo X is 13.8" front, 13" rear.
I think the 8/9 front is 13".
