1990 Prelude si vtec, timing belt broke :)
Who: Erik Hinz
What: 1990 Prelude Si
Why: Timing Belt went bye-bye
Where: White Bear Lake
How much: $500 or b/o
When: 10 minutes ago!!
I have a 1990 Honda Prelude Si, I was at a stop light and my water pump I believe froze up which snapped the belt. I haven't had any other issues with this car at all. I took the valve cover off and everything still looks intact. I'm not an expert but it doesn't look like it is broken.
The water pump started squeaking and about an hour of driving, the belt snapped and the car shut off. my buddy told me not to start it and I had it towed straight home.
The Good:
-Working power sunroof
-Decently clean interior
-Tinted Windows
-199k miles
-5-speed
-True Prelude Si (not 4WS)
-aftermarket exhaust, sounds great
-coil-over suspension
-cold air intake
-fuel injection
-decent tires
-pop-up headlights
-recent oil change at buerkle honda
-B20A1 V-tec Engine
The Bad:
-Rust
-Poor flat black paint job
- red hood, red bumper, the rest of the car is flat black
The Ugly:
-Timing Belt snapped, from what I can tell it looks like a new belt and new water pump will fix the problem.
