This thing is still rockin! We're planning on keeping it for at least another year so I decided to give it a little extra love before winter hits.
Couple presents for the Jetta:
-Latest revision PCV parts & associated gaskets
-Fresh spark plugs
-New HPFP cam follower
-new intercooler inlet/outlet seals (stockers were leaking)
-oil change (as I have been every 5k on this car)
-newer BOV/BPV
-new valvecover gasket (found oil in spark plug well #4 when changing plugs)
-new front left wheel bearing
-new front left axle
-new battery
-new pollen filter
New axle I got came with dry bearings, it was a rebuild from o'reily.
Greased it up REAL good and assembled everything, pretty easy swap on this car!
Basically the front left was making noise...I replaced the axle a little over a year ago after a torn CV boot got left un-noticed for a bit too long...the replacement never really sounded right but just got worse and worse over time. I assumed it was a bad wheel bearing but after swapping that out the noise was still there so I got a rebuilt unit from O'reily and the car is smooth and quiet once again!
Other fun stuff? If you look back I swapped in a BOV out of my old 2G DSM, actually from another car with 130k+ miles...logging proved it helped tremendously over the stock unit but I figure another 60k miles on it now are enough....I swapped in the crushed stock BOV from my evoX....it held 460whp or so at DB, I think it will do fine on the GLI

Between this and the new intercooler inlet/outlet seals (the way the IC pipes mate up with the intercooler are crazy on this thing, very cool!) the car feels good and strong and I'm sure the stock turbo is thankful for a bit of a break. No pics of this but use your imagination.
Brake pads and tires are in great shape, just swapped on the General Altimax Arctics for another winter of honeybadger fun with this car.
Last but not least, the cam follower for the stock FSI HPFP. I'm first going to post up the pic I took of the follower (and it's replacement) I took out around 50k miles:
Here's the one I just took out at 100k miles (so it has about another 50k miles on it):
Crazy difference eh? This second one looks so much less beat up with nearly the same mileage on it. Only thing that I can think of is oil. I ran Moble1 5w40 and 0w40 (as recommended/approved by Volkswagen) for probably the first 65k miles of this cars life. At some point, it became harder and harder to find, so I switched to Rotella T6 (synthetic) 5w40 year round. Crazy.
Still love this car. The car just simply gets 29+mpg all day every day no matter what and 400 miles to the tank. DSG trans is holding up fine (as are the stock clutchpacks), it's so smooth in traffic, just cruises down the freeway at 80-85 no problem, and is plenty of fun when in manual mode to go tear up corners and on-ramps. The trunk is freaking HUGE (16.0 cubic feet) and starting to look for a newer car for Anna this has been a very hard quality to match....gotta have room for alla dem dead hookers!
