Re: 2006 Corvette

Found out the car is @ 80% duty cycle with the 875cc injectors, and pushing roughly 105 lb/min of air. Can't wait to get it on the dyno!

Re: 2006 Corvette

No, won't even be close to that. Not sure why, but the car doesn't make nearly the whp per pound of air as a DSM/Evo. Maybe the MAF numbers are inflated somehow, or the translation from Hz and temp to lb/min was wrong.

LOL you'll probably need about an FP red at minimum. That pull started at about 2,000 rpm.

Still, coming close to holding on to something like this with a stock turbo is pretty damn impressive. I have no hope of beating him and I know it.

Re: 2006 Corvette

Good times this weekend, car seems to be super reliable and rips pretty good. Only race was between Spaz and I; was hoping to line up against Scheides or Leasure at some point too, but maybe another time.

Another pic of engine bay:

Re: 2006 Corvette

So now that the word is out, how about some more pics of the install process, what does the FMIC look like....vertical flow? How much air does that thing flow, how much more boost could you run if you wanted to, etc.

Re: 2006 Corvette

I knew you doing a blower on this. When I heard you were messing around with the crank pulley. Glad to see its boosted now. This thing must rip now. This thing going on the dyno on dyno day?

I dont have that many more pics, but I'll get a couple up. Yes, it's a bottom to top flow FMIC.

I'm not really sure what boost I can run safely. The pistons are 11.5:1 compression ratio which is pretty high, but I think with E85 I could probably run 10psi and not worry too much (double what I'm running now at 5psi lol). Compared to most Evos, my dynamic compression is still pretty low in comparison. Hell, the next owner of my V ran 9psi on pump gas on 11:1 stock motor and his is still doing great.

The main limiting factor is the fuel pump. The Z06 pump is basically a Walbro 400, plus the boost a pump should be good to around 700rwhp. I want to basically max it out and quit there for a simple setup. Don't want to mess with a double pump setup, or aftermarket fuel rail and lines, etc. It just becomes crazy expensive and unreliable past that point. If I only end up with 650rwhp, I'll probably put a smaller pulley on it next Winter and run 7psi or something.

Sorry, I am leaving this Friday back home to Iowa. Wish I could stay but I have to be back at my parent's house.

Scheides also had an inclination that I was doing a blower when he saw the crank pinning lol. Unfortunately, I just found out I can't make it to the mitsustyle dyno day either, have stuff to do at home that weekend. I do plan on getting a dyno tune though, so I'll post up numbers when I have them.

Re: 2006 Corvette

Couple pics added.

Took out all the air shrouds, there was one under the bumper and a huge one that separated the radiator from the old air intake. Now it's pretty much open:

Got the supercharger mounted and awaiting the FMIC install. You can see the brackets below where the intercooler sits. The -4 SS line in the middle is the paxton drain line which I zip tied down low, I have to change the oil in it every 7500 miles, but I'll probably just do it every Winter when I do oil changes (probably every 5000 miles):

Here is where the install got interesting. The base model is straight forward, but the Z06 has an external oil cooler, which the previous owner installed on my base model for road racing. I didn't want to delete it, so I came up with some new brackets to have it mounted between the FMIC and condenser. I had to move the FMIC brackets about an inch forward, but everything fit and I was really happy. I know they are right up next to each other, but I was seeing 170* oil temps and only 175* coolant temps on the highway which is way colder than I expected. It's a huge f'in oil cooler, at least 6"x24".

I have an 8 rib pulley setup I'm going to install next Winter as well, I got it with my 8 rib crank pulley but didn't have the motivation to install this time. Apparently it's a huge PITA to get the PS and Alt pulleys off with the motor in the car.

Re: 2006 Corvette

That's too bad you can't make It to B4B. My girlfriends dad is a big vette fan, and I've been trying to talk him into some fun stuff for his base '07. He has a '63 as well (which is beyond mint), so maybe he will do something fun with the new one.

Was hoping some lsx and blower action, could maybe help in his decision haha
