Re: My Newest project....

Well. I got bored and went over to my buddys garage. Not really much else to do with a snow storm happening. lol

It dont look like much, but I got the new engine bay harness routed and secured. Was gonna do more but started getting a nasty headache. Hopefully I will be able to get the engine hoist back this week too so I can get the motor and trans in and really start to get to work.

Re: My Newest project....

So I was able to get some more work done tonight.

I got the flywheel and clutch on. Than installed the trans after adding an OEM throwout bearing. Hopefully with that I wont have any clutch issues.

I than started to do the coolant lines on the turbo, but I gotta redo those after seeing some other peoples threads on down firing turbos. I went up and over the top of the housing with both. It may work. But I wont know till I get it all mounted up.

Re: My Newest project....

Back to work again tonight.......

At lunch today I went and grabbed the engine hoist so i at least had a chance to get the engine in. Well....I did. Was kinda a pain in the ass due to it was just me there. But I got it.

Than I started doing everything I can while the head and other accessories are off. Battery tray, wiring, starter, and some other things.

Now tomorrow I will start getting more on. Biggest thing will be installing new headstuds and doing the torque procedure on those.

Re: My Newest project....

Well. Went and did some work to the car tonight. Got the intake onto the head. Than installed the Head studs on the block. Than installed the head.

Also got the EVO 560's installed. And made up my fuel feed line. A little progress. But slowly getting there.

Tomorrow I gotta get some small things, than will be doing the timing belt kit on it. And hopefully will get the front of the motor together.

Re: My Newest project....

Well....I wasn't able to get as far as I wanted to today. I had the kids with me, and couldn't really concentrate on setting the timing and keeping them from destroying the garage at the same time. lol. So i continued to do some little things.

Got the thermostat in, and ran the heater hoses. Also ran the engine harness. Found out I need a knock sensor connector and both the coolant temp connectors.

Also got the water pipe installed, water pump on. And the new oem dipstick tube and dipstick.

Hopefully I can get over there tonight to get the timing set.

Re: My Newest project....

Well. Went over to the garage tonight to help on my buddy's Accord F20 swap. But ended up working on my car instead. lol

So i started off by getting all the timing stuff done. Got the OEM pulleys, tensoner, and belt on. Than put the front together as much as i could.

Than I started to get bored. lol. So I installed my AFPR setup. Hardest part was trying to figure out where to put it. But It works where I got it at.

Than I started mocking up the turbo so I could get coolant and oil lines sorted out.

Thats pretty much where I stopped tonight. Tomorrow I am hoping to get alot of the little things taken care of till my Throttle body shows up.

Re: My Newest project....

Nice progress man. The engine is so clean, but yet the bay is so dusty and dirty! Should pressure washed the bay while the engine was out! haha

I wanted to, but couldn't cause I had no way to trailer it to the shop I work at, and nobody had a pressure washer I could borrow/ rent. I will get the engine bay cleaned up good when I get it running though. It bugs me to much not to. lol

Re: My Newest project....

Well. Started getting the turbo mounted and oil/coolant lines figured out. I was able to get those all done. Now just need some hose for coolant and some fuel line. Its starting to come together now.

But sadly....I am gonna have to put it hold for a couple weeks. The head gasket that was slightly leaking on the family car, Stupid Subaru, finally let go. I was hoping it would have held out till I got the Eclipse done. But nope. So know I gotta focus on getting that done, as its the only car my GF can drive.

Re: My Newest project....

Whats going on with the feed line there? Looks like the braided line goes down behind/below the turbo, then is connected to a hard line that goes back up to feed it the turbo?

The feed line is a kit I got from JNZ tuning. It goes from the head to the top oil feed spot. It just looks funny cause of how I have it routed. It just goes behind the turbo and up to the top of the housing.

the hard line that runs up and over the turbo is for coolant. It was about the only way I could get it to fit. I hope t works.

I see. Must just be the angle of the picture playing tricks.

What clutch are you using? Is that a XTD I spy?

Sadly...yes its an xtd. I did do some looking into them, and there are mixed reviews. But I didn't have the money to get something better. So as long as it lasts me a while I'll be happy.

Re: My Newest project....

If you break it the xtd will last awhile. I had last 10k in my first maxima but I didn't break it in. Car is looking good. Sure do miss my car some days.

Was yours sprung or solid disk? I see alot of the solid disk ones have issues. I however, got the sprung disk. I didn't find to many bad results on those.

Re: My Newest project....

Well....been doing some work, but haven't had time to do any updates.

I swapped out the greddy for a 14b just for break in. Plus the Greddy was frustrating me. Trying to get water lines and what not figured out.

After that I ordered couplers for the intercooler and a TB elbow. Got them yesterday and decided to work on it tonight.

I got everything together, than primed the oil system, than used Link to disable cel for egr, evap, etc... Than used Link to run fuel pump to prime the system. Than I just fired it up.

It runs pretty good. Gotta get the idle down a bit, but otherwise it was good. Tomorrow I will top off fluids, run it for a bit, than hopefully get tires switched over so I can drive it.

Re: My Newest project....

So...I decided to start the car and let it run for a bit. Trying to see if everything is alright.

First thing I noticed is when cold the car doesn't run worth a crap. I bled the cooling system twice so I dunno if the FIAV is not working or what. Second thing I noticed is that the front o2 stays maxed out on the data log on link.

Once it got to around 180* the car finally started to idle on its own semi good. It does have a miss, but that could be in the coil or the wires. plugs are brand new. But the timing seems high to me.

I was trying to post my logs but it said invalid file...how do I get around that?

THanks
