Re: Yep..another one.
Yea gave it a bath, took it around the neighborhood, love the moonroof. First 1g that I've had that turns some heads (for the right reasons haha), looks sharp on the road. Needs lots more cleaning and buttoning up.

Re: Yep..another one.
Oh btw, blitz bov ftl!!! Was barely opening if it all, as well as the boost controlller was set up really weird. So we tossed a crushed 1g bov on, and hooked the boost controller up again.

Thanks! Nothing special to peek at under the hood, haven't gotten around to cleaning it up yet. Still getting a stupid amount of oil blowby out of my oil cap. One of these days Ill take some time and give it a good cleaning, far too lazy at the moment. Def have it done by the dyno day.
Btw in the first two pics, the fog lights aren't installed. I'll get some day shots.

Re: Yep..another one.
Alright so I got a little on my plate before the dyno day, so I probably shouldnt be sitting on my ass now typing this, but thought I'd update.
IF all goes well, I'll be hopping up on the rollers this saturday, and seeing what my small 16g has got in it. My oil pan gasket leaks like a sum bitch, so thats going to be redone, as well as a new-er alternator, a little engine bay cleaning, and a whole mess of interior cleaning. My mystery oil leaks are bugging me, so those need to be fixed.

Re: Yep..another one.
Well I'm gonna stamp "worst dsm luck ever" on my list of accomplishments. Installed a new alternator, an external dump o2 housing, and fixed some leaks. Took her for the first spin, 3rd pull the motor made a terrible noise during decel, and locked up!!! So she's going in storage for the winter, i'm done with it.

Re: Yep..another one.
dang dude, i'm sorry. Did it have oil in it? Maybe you should concentrate on getting your DSM reliably running before you do all kinds of mods to it. That was my goal, and right now I couldn't be happier with a *mostly* stock, yet very nicely running talon.

Re: Yep..another one.
All of the reliability aspects were fine. I'm not running a stupid huge set up, when something broke, I fixed it, and the car was running amazing before hand. Was full up on oil and coolant, they were topped off just before hand, and were the first thing I checked after it locked up. The car was setup to run what it had, so not like I was exceeding what stock can do.
Diagnoses will have to wait, I'm not feeling like digging into it at the moment. Will figure it out and update.

Re: Yep..another one.
well, it seems to me that right after you got it you immediately started modding it... so how do you know how reliable it was? What were the compression numbers before you started modding? Leakdown? Actual oil pressure? Gas mileage? etc

Re: Yep..another one.
Car came modded, didn't buy the car for it to get good gas mileage, and to be super reliable. I wouldve bought a honda if I wanted something slow and reliable. The car ran great, no smoking, compression was pretty much flat across the board, and never had an issue with oil pressure. I think the motto for most dsm's should be "shit happens. My guesses on what happened, oil pump siezed, or crank journel somehow got clogged...idk guess I'll see.

Re: Yep..another one.
haha, i'm just giving you crap dan. But really, the things I mentioned were more to gauge the relative health of your engine. I'm not saying it should get great gas mileage (just not really possible with a dsm). If your engine isn't healthy it doesn't really make sense to throw mods at it, because it will only exacerbate problems. make sense?
I'm not trying to hate. I really just want to see you have a good running DSM!!!

Re: Yep..another one.
A little winter planning update. As long as everything goes according to plan, I should be keeping it. It's burried in 4 ft of nice clean salt free snow, so not worried about more rust showing up. I've been brainstorming up what needs to be done. Sold my cams, so replacements will have to be purchased closer to spring. Here's a little list of things to do after I figure out what's exactly wrong-
1.struts, mine are crap.
2.brakes, rear calipers getting replaced, and some sort of upgrade to the fronts (3kgt vr4 or cobra?)
3.interior, strip it out, clean, and replace broken pilar pieces. Also need to replace seat sliders, they're rusty. Gonna be spending lots of time in there, needs it. Carpet is either gonna be replaced or cleaned, and sunroof leaks need to be fixed. Rears seats, gone (no seatbelts back there anyways, and nobody ever sits back there lol. Plan on building some sort of floor for the trunk and floor where the rear seats are, to make it look nice, as well as building a battery box, and just straightening things up.
4.body panels, planning on removing side skirts and wing to clean underneath. As well as trying to fix whatever rust there is, not too big of a deal.
5.engine bay, needs attention...haha. Wouldn't bug most, but it's bugging me now. Gonna end up pulling the motor regardless, so mucho cleaning will be taking place. Maybe some paint, who knows haha. Just know, that it's dirty.
Mods will pretty much be the same. Plan on a new-er intercooler, since I don't like how it's set up now. Like I said, new cams, maybe some kelford 264's...but not worried about it now. Other than that, just maintenence, making sure stuff is how it's supposed to be. If a rebuild is needed, then 2g pistons, 1g rods will be going in there...all just brainstorming. Need to get to saving!!

Re: Yep..another one.
Nice plan, it should be one damn clean 1g when you're done with all of that. I have a FMIC that I can sell you for cheap once I get it off of my car, an Apex'i 19 x 9 x 2.5, not the biggest but its damn efficient
