I'll post how I like it once it's done. This seems to be the "go to" core that people are recommending these days.

Re: "v"
Here are some pics and update.
I don't think anybody would want to fit a bigger core to the front of a 2g. It takes up just about all of the available space, unless you really want to hack up the car/bumper. Although the LICP is 2.5 inches, we jumped it up to 3.0 at the inlet to the core, just in case I ever needed to go bigger it would be as simple as replacing the LICP. The pipes were trimmed to the shape of the tank openings so there would not be any pipe protruding into the tanks. We are running 3.0 inch up to the TB elbow. Still haven't decided which TB I want to go with yet, I'm working on that, but it will be done later. The tanks are made from .090 aluminum. We pressure tested it @ 42psi to make sure the welds would hold and check for leaks. We have engineering templates made for the tank panels that I'll try to scan and post later if anybody wants them. We cut the lower part off the bumper support brackets to make room for the intercooler pipes as seen in the pics. Everything will fit under the bumper and retain the driving/fog lamps. I'll post more pics as we go.

That is a big core man, and I LOVE the piping! I like how you cut off the bottom half of the bumper support, great idea!

I'm lucky that I found a great guy to do my fab work for me, top notch work and perfectionist, same person who did my exhaust work for $200. Wants to charge me only $300 for fabbing up the intercooler and all the piping!! I'm going to pay him more than that though. The place we're doing the work in is actually his workshop at his house. He's got Cincinnati and Bridgeport units in there, metal lathes, sheet metal benders, multiple Miller welders, drive on rack, etc, etc. Top notch guy.

Re: "v"
Well it's finished. Here are the latest pics. We had to trim back the bumper to clear the inlet/outlet pipes and make room for the thicker intercooler. If you look in the side vent openings you can see where we trimmed the top of the openings to clear the pipes. Came out very well. Now I just need to decide on a throttle body.

Re: "v"
A couple of underhood shots, not the greatest pics, but you get the idea.

Re: "v"
Wow, looks like great install work. Nice job to your fabber!
Time to cut out the black portion of your bumper's center opening?

The way we installed the intercooler was to butt it up very close to the underside of the bumper support with plenty of clearance in front of it. This makes a high pressure area while the car is moving which will push air through the upper part of the intercooler that is not visable from the front.

Re: "v"
Cool! How did you decide to put the bumper support directly on the IC?
I assume that you didn't want to go wider because you wanted to keep the stock fogs instead of going aftermarket.... or is there another reason?
Any cooling issues?
Looks great man!

Well it's not directly on it, there's about a 1/4 inch gap at the top. Really came down to making sure the core didn't hang too low on the car. The tight fit at the top was just a benefit. Yeah, I wanted to keep the fog lights (it is a street car). I like keeping the outside appearance as stock looking as possible. Other than the FMIC and the exhaust it looks like any other 2g with nice wheels and tint. This core is supposed to work really well and I didn't want the end tanks to be too shallow/tight to the core. I wanted the air flow to make a smoother transition from the pipes to the core. Drove it home yesterday, no signs of overheating at this time.

Re: "v"
Cool, sounds alot like my brother his car is all stock on the outside other then the IC, hood, and painted center tail light piece.
He went with a different IC that is longer and used driving lights mounted in the fog light holes.

Re: "v"
Very nice! I like the end tank design, definitely better than a lot of the mass-produced models out there.
