Re: The Gun Thread
Ryan and I went to Bills and rented a H&K p30 v3 40s&w.
Man this gun for a 40 shot like a 9mm for me, just a little more kick but not bad.
So I put money down in a H&K p30 v2 40s&w with the LEM trigger with 2 13 round mags.

Re: The Gun Thread
Got a new scope dialed in and a foregrip.
Ruger MKII, super accurate pistol. .22lr obviously. Kinda nice they both use the same ammo.
Car is about 60 yards away, 10x50 Scope.
I think I need a bipod, I get too much sway when I try to shoot anything more than 25 yards away lol. Don't mind the straggler on the left
Bills, circle pines, all the way back. 50 yards. This is the small target by the way, 10x10" paper.

Re: The Gun Thread
The FedEx man stopped by about 30 minutes ago with my upper from Palmetto State Armory! Finally! Put it all together and you get...
I guess it'll just be pretty to look at for now, no money for .223/5.56. Oh well, I'll get to shoot it this summer I guess. Pretty happy with it though, building my first AR wasn't nearly as hard as I thought.

Re: The Gun Thread
I picked this up tonight after work, and I have my CCW cert. I think every employee at Bills had to play with the gun, there like dam a p30 with the LEM trigger, a must have. I am itching to shoot it, I have a free lane rental for 2 people, plus free gun rental good for when ever. What to rent now is the question.
I picked up a electric drawer safe, so when the gun is not on me it will be secure, and easy to access.
It came with 2 13 round clips and the grip is adjustable, small medium and large side panels and back straps, I think I am going to run the large side panels and small back strap, we shall see what works best for me.
Also H&K sends a spent shell casing with the gun, its the test shot for the gun.
I asked the guys if there was a break in period for the gun, and he said "just shoot the crap out of the gun, clean it after a few hundred rounds if you want."

Re: The Gun Thread
What to rent? Desert eagle 50cal lol. The judge is fun to rent or a nice 1911. Or if they still have it to rent a scar 16s. That was a lot of fun to shoot!

Re: The Gun Thread
I just went to Joe's Sporting Goods off of Rice St and 36, and they had some 5.56 PMC X-Tac, 20 for $8.99, 2 box limit. Good deal. Also had G.I. 30rd AR mags for $20 each, and Thermold AR 30 and 20 rd mags for $10 each.

Re: The Gun Thread
Rented some .380s at Bill's with the lady. We liked the Smith and Wesson Bodyguard over the Ruger LCP.

Re: The Gun Thread
Picked up 80 rounds of 556 62 grain. Been trying to find some non 55 grain for my gun. I want to try some 75 grain even at some point. The 1:7 twist demands it!

Re: The Gun Thread
I hope to go shooting this weekend at my parents' house, need to fix the extractor and hopefully the scope on my .308. Otherwise it's scope shopping time! I really don't understand why a good scope costs 10x as much as a cheap one, surely they can't cost that much more to make?
Murlo, what kind of ammo did you get? Once I get mine fixed I want to do a side by side comparison of my surplus 7.62 vs Federal match 168g vs Winchester match 168g. Funny thing is the federal and winchester both use the Sierra King bullet, just different casings/powder.

It does cost that much more to manufacture.
Ever shopped around for camera glass? Same thing with firearm glass, but high end scopes have to sustain recoil, drops on the ground, being banged around HMMVs all day, etc. What you pay for in a high end scope is ruggedness, clarity and in-spec turrets. A lot of the low end scopes turrets are actually way off. 1/4 Moa advertised might actually be 1/3. First focal plane vs second also has a huge effect on cost. Same with etched glass.
The Viper PST line is by far the best bang for the buck IMO.

What does that stuff cost a round? I think my Winchester ranger match was about $1/each, kind of sucks.
Let us know how they do. Do you have a scope or anything (thought you gave GH his acog back), or iron sights? What range are you going to be shooting at?
