Re: My Winter Upgrades
What fans are you running? because I was informed of a car that made around 558awhp with a/c and was having overheating issues then went to the setup I'm going to run and never had a problem since... I would look into it because I want to keep my a/c aswell thats why I went with it..

Re: My Winter Upgrades
I have a mishimoto radiator, with 2 10" fans, no shrouding. Not ideal, but it works decent. Hopefully better now that I found I had a blown headgasket also.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Nah haven't yet. I actually left the dyno day and went home to switch cars and headed to Fargo for the rest of the weekend.
On the drive home though from the dyno day, when just cruising at highway speeds I could feel extra vibrations. If I got on the gas a little, it felt fine. So I'm not sure but something is wrong. That what I'm thinking it is as it's happened to me before, and I think we wound her up to around 8300rpm on that first pull. So who knows.
I will be doing a compression test tonight, and pull the valve cover. I just did a compression test last weekend so I have a really good baseline to compare against. My numbers last week were 155-155-155-150.

Re: My Winter Upgrades

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Compression is 160 across all 4 cylinders. No rockers fell off.
Here's what I did find though.
First look:
Little closer look:
Shit deng!!!
The seal on that injector wasn't sealed good against the head. On the last pull I noticed something shooting out from around there, so hmm.... that cylinder was probably running lean. The wierd metallic sound we heard, no idea yet what that was. Could it have caused a spun bearing maybe? I don't hear it free revving, never heard it during a pull, just on decel.
Step 1 is to acquire a new 1600 injector. Anyone have one? Even if I can just use one for testing purposes to see if the car runs decently with the injector fixed.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
On first look, looks like it went in hard the last time it was installed? Looks crushed physically. Were all th injectors on the rail last time you put them in? Then tightened the rail/them down into the head?

Re: My Winter Upgrades
yeah they were all on the rail, then I pushed them onto the head. You're right, that might have been what happened. Can't blame anyone but myself

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Thats poop! Hopefully that fixes the main issue. At least compression is nice and normal across the board.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Thanks for letting me borrow an injector Shane! I'm going to test it out and see how the car runs with this spare injector.
Also it appears the black plastic cap is the only thing that is damaged, so maybe I can just get a new cap from PTE or something.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Well Shane's injector is installed, and the car is idling much better than before. I revved it up a bunch of times and don't hear any odd sounds. I'm going to drive her to work tomorrow and see if I notice anything.
And I'm going to try and aquire a new plastic cap for the injector. I think that's all I need.

Re: My Winter Upgrades
Drove the car to and from work today. It's idling better than it has all year, go figure Still not a perfect idle, but that might be asking for too much with these sloppy injectors.
Did a couple 2nd and 3rd gear rippers, and it pulls like a (for lack of a better term) raped ape! It misses a little bit sometimes, but it's a tiny miss that seems to hardly affect a thing. I ordered up some OEM plug wires from Brookdale Mitsu. I'm going to see if those cure that.
Called up PTE and asked them about getting a new plastic tip. They are throwing one in an envelope and sending me one free of charge So should be here soon, and I can return this injector to Shane asap!
I'd still like to borrow some smaller injectors sometime though from someone. I want to see if the car idles better on smaller injectors, just to be completely sure that most of my idle issues are due to my injectors.
