I find it funny that Muslims have to publicly denounce radicals in order to not be grouped with nut jobs. Does that happen for any one else? Are we generalizing everyone if their entire section of society doesn't publically speak out? That is crap, and isn't nessecary. I don't think there are any attacks on religion itself. There are attacks in people who used religion as a shield to do things that are down right fucked up, and at best illogical and ignorant.

No one said that believing in God, Allah or other higher power(s) is wrong. What most people are saying is that using those higher powers as justification to hate on others is wrong. Religion is a piss poor justification for anything other than treat people with respect.

What if we could use religion to justify anything we wanted? Not just refusing to provide birth control to employees through medical benefits, or serve gay people. What if someone just religion as a justification to beheading Christians. No one's letting ISIS get away with hiding behind religion.

In no way am I trying to say that killing innocent people is on the same level of refusing to serve gay people in your store. But in both cases people are using religion as justification for their actions. One we've labeled as wrong, the others seemed acceptable to an entire state (and about 13 others).

I guess the question about the wedding cake goes a little deeper than just serving up a slice of pie at a deli counter. Because a wedding has been something that came about through religion that it brings up stronger feelings of right and wrong by those who chose to not bake the cake. But I can't say for sure because I can't speak for the baker who said no. In the end there are bakers who would be glad to do it. So it raises the question of why go through all of the trouble to sue and close a bakery down when you could still have your cake and eat too?

Because I can only imagine it must feel like shit to be told "we don't serve your kind here." Which religion says that is cool? The Bible says do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Just because they gave black people their own segregated bathrooms doesn't justify barring them from using whatever bathroom they wanted to use.
