Re: Snowmobiles
I would like to get a zr 900 but everybody wants way to much for them. Well more then what I want to pay for one. I will just stick to my old triples there always get the job done for me. I really want a 97 xc 700 twin with the 220 casting. Bad ass sled. Whens the next ride?

If you guys are down for a little drive we could get a group up to my parents (we have plenty of room to sleep if you want to stay overnight.) and do a long ride down the taconite stop for lunch, etc.
Otherwise, i may need to go up and grab one of my sleds up there in order to run with you guys down here.

I should have put a disclaimer on that, if cruising under 60 mph, Extra 12's never liked to be ridden as hard as we were going on the way back. I knew Jim had to be home so we were pushing the speed limit as they say
Overall the 600xc was the oldest of the bunch, but she has been dead on reliable for my wife. If the sled prices come down a little bit maybe next year we will upgrade the bitch sled to a REV or a Dragon. I really like the rider position of the REV-xp, does not nearly beat you up as bad on the longer rides.
Shawn
So when are we riding again?

Thanks Shawn, a bit of poor planning on my part. I'll know better next time to plan for the whole day.
Wife was a bit mad but got over it quickly and I lived to ride another day.

Re: Snowmobiles
Looks awesome guys, makes me really want another sled bad, but the wife is done getting her RN degree in a few months so I can wait until next near.
I will be buying one of the new Ski-Doo E-Tech sleds no doubt, 1400 miles on a gallon of oil, 20mph+, no smoke, plus the aformentioned superior ride of the REV chassis.
I went riding with a guy from work and we were with a variaty of sleds from Polaris Rush's, F7's, Apex's, Nytro's, new Phazer's, old Polaris XC's, old MXZ's, basically a mix of everything. We drove around 220 miles round trip the first day. By the second day most people were beat to shit, and nobody wanted to drive very far as the first day. I was driving a 2010 MXZ 800R, and my buddy was on his 2010 MXZ 800 E-Tec and we were just fine
I am not brand bias by any means but the Ski-Doo REV chassis are far superior to anything out there as far as banging bumbs and rider position. They put you right in the pivot point where you dont' get creamed on every bump. I rode a lot of other sleds that day and nothing even compared to the Ski-Doo in any shape or form.

I still think the new Polaris rush front end handles better over the skidoo (IQ and Rush) but I'll give the pro ride rear skid some time to develop before I think about owning one. Plus I like 800's and Polaris hasn't done well the last few years with that.
The renegade REV-XP I bought has me worried about the reliability of the 800's. Lots of crank recalls, and folks burning down a cylinder on unmodded 800s has me a little worried. I hope it's reliable because I really like the way the sled doesn't beat the piss out of me over those bumps. I wasn't even sore the next day after my ride on Sunday.

Yeah the 800 Power Tek's have had some major burn down troubles I agree, those things are run on the ragged edge so they do not have much room for bad gas ect.
The newer 800's have been knock control and are not as prone to cylinder failure to the Power Tek models.
I rode a Rush and did not like it at all, but again that is totally my opinion, others have liked them. To me it felt like you were sitting up a bit too high and it wanted to tip over easier in the corners. Plus the guys who owned the Rush's that rode the 2010 800r I was on laughed when they got off and said man that Ski-Doo stays planted on the trail and doesn't beat you up nearly as much.
But they were both Polaris fan boys that stick with their brand even through hard times. I am still baffled as to how Polaris still sells an 800cc sled anymore, considering they are 30-40hp down compared to Ski-Doo and Arctic Cat.

Re: Snowmobiles
Dyno port in snowtech magazine dynoed stock Polaris 800 and it made 152hp. I guess they got them sorted out now. I still wont trust them for a couple years.
Best riding ever last night, all untounched fresh snow crosslake Emily outing longville area. Rode highways as they were not plowed and full of snow. Another 5-8" tonight too. Wohoo!
