I had a stupid fawn run right up to my stand a few years ago and I yelled at it to get it to go away. Was sick of sitting still. haha

Re: The official Deer Hunting thread.
I saw what looked to be about an 8 point buck on my way home from last night. I thought the fucker was gonna jump out in front of me, he was trotting down the shoulder of the road.

Re: The official Deer Hunting thread.
Bumping this back up for 2012 as I am getting BUCK FEVER!
Our zone changed from managed to hunters choice.
As I am hunting with a first time hunter, but good shooter, we've decided to party our meat. This way he can get the "brown its down" going, and I can wait for a large/older buck, as I've gotten that first kill out of my system. This way we hopefully get a good amount of meat.
I would like to harvest something in the 3.5+ year range, but they are far and few between in our zone. Going up the entire rifle season will increase my odds of seeing one, but if the last weekend hits, I'll be after meat!
Gear is all ready to go, ordered a HeroHD2 as Amazon has them on sale in the "outdoors" package for $199.99 shipped! I'll try to figure this new camera out and see if I can capture the hunt!

Re: The official Deer Hunting thread.
Nice! Yea I have the fever too, Im heading up to grand rapids the first weekend for a 4 day hunt. Last year our 4 man party got skunked in the same spot, although we did see a few deer. Just didnt get any clean shots in the thick woods, didnt see any bucks either. Hopefully our luck changes!
My dad and I did get lottery for does, so thats a plus. Going to go fire the rifle this weekend if I have time.

Get it dialed in! Sounds like deer are "thin" in your area, hate for you to take a shot and have it go clear over their back!
I know my scope was MIA last season so I was down to iron sites, now its tight groupings for this guy!

Re: The official Deer Hunting thread.
I dialed the new gun and scope in last year so it should be okay, but I just want to double check everything.
The guys land we are hunting on, hes been taking cam pics where we will be hunting, and hes seen some nice big does, but no bucks on camera, which is strange. They have to be someplace!
I plan to do a bit of stalking while up there too, so well see what happens. Way pumped!
Swanny where do you hunt?

Re: The official Deer Hunting thread.
Friend of mine shot this buck on Sept 21st...
Scored 172 I think he said. Monster!
He said it was the smaller of the 2 he has been watching.
Weighed in at 235 field dressed. haha
