Re: New Beater

Shitty! It doesn't look too bad though, and you might not have to replace the core support, just pull it back out so that everything fits.

Man even for how much of a tank these cars are, the sheet metal still bends pretty easy. Hopefully it isn't too much of a bitch to get it back in line.

Re: New Beater

I was at work on my day off today to straighten out the core support.

I figured since I had the bumper off I'd throw on a larger Evo FMIC that I've had laying around for a while.

Old Ebay FMIC on top, Evo 9 FMIC installed on bottom

It's pretty stealthy. I was contemplating giving it a light coat of black.

I'll get a closer pic up later

Re: New Beater

I'd leave the FMIC the way it is. It's not like it really stands out anyways.

Re: New Beater

Got most of my new"er" motor put together tonight. It's a stock rebuild motor with around 8-10K miles on her. Can't remember milage as it was rebuilt 7 years ago.

Did a balance shaft delete and some other random shit to it over the last 2 nights. Tomorrow I get my head back from Gosh. The head had some porting done by Steve at HeadWerks back in 02.

The motor (and head and cams) are out of my old Laser from way back in the day. The long block had been sitting in my garage for about 4 years minus the WebCams I stole from it to put in the Galant a while ago.

Do you guys think I should paint the block and pan(Orange)while I have it out? I Degreased it and I think it looks horrible.

Re: New Beater

If I paint it, it will be Hugger orange with a little black for contrast.

I painted my mad tyte JDM valve cover. I'll post pictures tomorrow. I don't know if it will look good having most of the engine orange though

Re: New Beater

I painted my block machinery gray. They stock it at NAPA. I think orange would be a little loud in an engine bay. It's your car though and you don't really see much of the block anyways when its installed.
