Re: Project Fast Spyder

Took a close look at the AC condenser and there is a circle of oil on both side. Which means that oil in the AC system got out and that means the it lost some charge too. So I may have to remove the AC

Small update:

-Bought some AN wrenches so I can finish my fuel system
-Replaced my slip yoke yesterday on the driveshaft
-A pretty polished intake manifold is coming in the mail...

Re: Project Fast Spyder

Here are some more pics.
Magnus

A/C Removed(red circle is of oil spot where it was leaking. Both sides have it)

Driveshaft installed

When I put the driveshaft up the rear bracket was off by like a 1/2". Dont know why because the bracket could only be welded in one place. Anyways I fab'd up some brackets to make it work.

Re: Project Fast Spyder

the oil spot in your condenser means all of your charge was lost as soon as the hole happened. Refrigerant is much less dense than oil, and if the oil came through, that means the refrigerant was carrying the oil as it exited the hole.

Re: Project Fast Spyder

The system still had a charge on in it. Im assuming the hole was tiny and when the high side pressure went up it let it leak past.

Re: Project Fast Spyder

Hmm. did you ever recharge it? Usually with an oil spot that big, it has either been leaking for a long time with frequent recharges, or is a leak that let everything go at once.

Re: Project Fast Spyder

Huh, weird that it was never recharged and still had a charge with that kind of an oil spot. Anyways, nice looking project

Re: Project Fast Spyder

I cant for the life of me find that camera. But pretty much drop the engine in, finish up the wiring(need engine in). and hopefully everything works. Im crossing my fingers that the drivetrain components all work good.

Re: Project Fast Spyder

He is very good. He already did my head last year. But the crank had to be sent out to get re nitride(or something like that) coated because in needed to be ground down 10 under.
