Re: what turbo to get??
Know a guy with a heavy ass Galant VR4 with an HX35 at 20psi. He shits on every E16g car in the area. He creeps up on Z06's and Ferrari's and kills them on the highway. No DSMlink. Only AFC II. Matter of fact just recently doing a pull on the highway he smoked a bolton HTA3582 Galant VR4. Great street turbo. Evo 16g will spool a little faster than a bolt on HX35. But the power will not drop off like a E16G. Also when the time comes (because it will come) there is plenty of power left on the table when you decide you want to go faster. Holset is basically a BW turbo without the extended tip and cheaper.

the only bolt on holsets I've been able to find are the bullseye ones (new) and I kinda want to stray away from bullseye this time around and I don't have the money for a new turbo and haven't found any used ones locally so a holset really isn't an option right now

and honestly right now I don't know if I can flip the bill for an external wastegate setup like most the turbos I actually want need. so that leaves me with a new v-trim like I have now cause they are cheap or a new eIII 16g cause they are the same price (or maybe a used one). I guess it just depends on how long I want my car out of commission

It is always a balance of cost, downtime, and goals.
Good luck with your turbo search. There are nearly endless combinations that will get you to 400awhp on a DD w/o corrections, just depends what you want to pay to get there and what you want the car to be.

Re: what turbo to get??
Good luck. Just take your time and make sure you get the best option for your price range. If you have a little extra cash you can get this. Closet thing to an external with all the benefits.

I agree... Even if I had a 2.3 I would probably still use an Evo III 16g because I like torque and lower end power.

That is my setup, Evo316g 2.3 and E85. Good enough for 348awhp 360tq at DB and a 11.7@118mph

Re: what turbo to get??
See if you used a big turbo 95tsi, your torque wouldn't be higher than your wheel horse power more than likely.
Torque make wheels happy, torque pulls you like train through corner.

^^^ Most people don't care if their HP is greater than tourque. My tourque is higher and has only created issues on the road course.

Re: what turbo to get??
I have a 14b with the internal wastegate taken out and a stainless 02 housing setup with a 38mm tial style wastegate off of the stock 02 and is recirculated back in the exhaust. All bolts up stock to the downpipe and manifold. Everything is new and turbo has been refinished with no shaft play.

Re: what turbo to get??
Sure I will seperate, send me a PM. Also whatever turbo you go with make sure you know its history (if it was rebuilt or peiced together) and who actually did the entire rebuild if it was rebuilt. Some people claim to have rebuilt turbos or say they know how to but actually dont last worth a shit. No sence in saving just a few bucks to run into the hassle of having to take it back off to have rebuilt or replaced a few hundred miles down the road.

Re: what turbo to get??
i know this thread is a little old, and i've done some searching, but bottomline, I'm looking at these turbos for the build im gonna do over these next few winter months... What's your opinions
FP Big T28 vs. Evo III Big 16G (maybe FP sleeper 16G) vs. FP 68HTA?
As far as I know, it seems as though the Evo 16G seems to be the best overall street turbo/best bang for the buck.
My hopes are to make close to 400hp this coming spring...
