Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.
B-man, I'll trade you my welded up water pipe and t-stat housing for your stockers, just noticed that when I put the head on last night. Also an oil pan if you've got one.

6-27-12-Grinding down the seam weld on rear trailing arm so that FD wheels will fit in the back.
6-27-12-Grinding down the seam weld on rear trailing arm so that FD wheels will fit in the back. (Driver's side)
This is my first side, looks ugly pass. side is a lot better.
6-28-12- What! Finally using the welder!? No. I'm not that light, but I know someone who is.... oh thermostat housing water feed holes being blocked off.
6-28-12- Lil' brown working some magic. He doesn't appreciate my lack of tool or dirty parts to work on.
6-28-12- Welding shots of the water pipe water return being closed up.
6-28-12-Welding trailing arms, i need to add a MIG welder to my tool list.
6-28-12-Water pipe and front of thermostat housing.
6-28-12-Water pipe and back of thermostat housing.
6-29-12- New suspension, GC coilovers on Koni Yellows. Probably one of the last sets of yellows sold for a 1G!
6-29-12- Cutting down stock perches for clearance.
6-29-12- Driver's side rear trailing arm all welded and clean.
6-29-12- Pass. side rear trailing arm all welded and clean.
6-29-12- Perches all cut, i hit them with some paint too.
6-29-12- Cecilia fighting with me again, hub is messed up and would not accept axle. To be continued...
So i sold my evo wheels and picked up some FD wheels with giant 245/50/16 Goodyear eagle F1 GS. First time I'll be using summer only tires instead of all seasons. Oh and
they were already powdercoated black!
7/8/12:
Passenger side suspension all bolted up, might have to pull the strut back out for more trimming since the tire hits the perch still.
7/8/12:
Driver's side suspension in, same issue here tires are touching the perch. Going to order some extended studs and a smaller spacer.
So, as of now I just ordered some extended wheel studs, but good news is that according to mondale he said that I will need them at the track so I'm happy about that I don't want to do a lot of work just for a set of wheels.
I need to pickup some spacers for the front and rear, I found out the tires are too wide in the front and they still hit what little of the perch is left up there.
I need to order a couple of random gaskets, bolts for the turbo, and who knows what else I'll run into, but I'm making progress.
I got the water pipe bolted up for now and I'm waiting on a throttle body to get here too, I figured why not since I was planning on getting one anyway.
Well probably be another 3 weeks till i get to work on it, but only 6 weeks left of school then its go time. I'm aiming for track days on august 25th, its my bday and both grove creek and RFR have track days.
Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.
Been getting anxious lately and instead of relaxing on the couch before bed I've been trying to go outside and get stuff done.
7/10/12 - Lower thermostat housing mounted.
7/10/12 - End of day progress, turbo is on, exhaust is on, thermostat housing is on. (Thanks Pat/Tehehodi for the help)
7/11/12 - Water outlet gasket that is perfect replacement for J-pipe gasket.
7/11/12 - J-pipe on, these things suck they should of just made the covers face downward.
7/11/12 - Beautiful FMIC is back on the car, I love that thing.
7/11/12 - Lights back on, looking more like a car again.
7/11/12 - End of the night, LICP on and tight, Upper pipe just placed for now, left the bumper off to put in horns.
7/12/12 - This arrived today, S90 70mm TB, Should cure the boost leaks and already has built in FIAV blockoff, which is one less thing I'll have to do, it has no placement for the idle switch and is approx. 2.75", another guy on link says it matches his 3" pipe perfectly.
Not too far off now really, but I need to install extended wheel studs, cut front perches down a bit more, install wheel spacers, then just mount the ignition stuff, run harness and fill fluids. Once that is all done get an alignment, then

Looking really good; can't wait to see it in action!
What spring rates did you order your GC's in?

Gotcha.
Different application of car, of course, I went with 450 on the front and 375 on the rear in a car that weighs 2840, and am now wishing I had gone at least 100lb/in stiffer.

Re: Big Brown's Automagic - The last episode in my DSM story.
Yea, I was kinda shocked to see how much heavier the autos are. A couple of people at the PG were saying their auto 1G was around 3300!
