Re: Engine Install(2G)
1030 til now isn't that bad when i was trying to get my tranny back in my lancer after doing a clutch I spent the better part of 3 days trying to get it back in. I'd say if your having that hard of a time you may want to drop the tranny back down double check the clutch alignment then try again. I would make sure that all the bolts line up perfectly or damn near before I even started to try and thread anyhting in. Good luck with the work

Re: Engine Install(2G)
So you went against what we recommended and installed only the engine first and now your putting the tranny in after? Well if you like doing things the hard way, more power to you...
Yea something is probably not lining up and it could be the clutch. Jiggle it around an push it in harder.

Re: Engine Install(2G)
haha yah that because last night i wanted to put it in and my friends ran off so I had no help to get it put on. But now i know that it would have probably been easier. but its to late now so lesson learned. ALSO another thing, i heard that doing a 1g in a 2g you need to cut off the weight on the tranny so the radiator hose can go by. true?

Re: Engine Install(2G)
I have never heard that before. What weight on the tranny? There should be no problem with the radiator hose. Did you connect everything up before putting the tranny in?

Re: Engine Install(2G)
He's talking about the counter weight on the shift shaft. I had to remove mine too. It was rubbing the lower radiator hose. So I just took it off.

Re: Engine Install(2G)
I got it installed. Had a couple buddies help me out. It just didnt want to line up properly. Does the counter weight just come off or do you have to cut it off? If you cut it how far up do you cut it? and pics? Thanks!

Re: Engine Install(2G)
You can cut it off near the base, search tuners for pics...very simple to do. Otherwise you run into clearance issues with the lower radiator hose.

Re: Engine Install(2G)
Ok so just cut it off. No I ran into ANOTHER problem, The power steering belt is to short. I have the 2G PS pump, all 2G pulleys, all 2G mounting for PS, and a 2G belt. I have tried everything, but the belt wont go on. Is there something else I should do? Or do I need 1G stuff?

Re: Engine Install(2G)
I had the same belt issue. Just remove the pump mounting bolts so it will move closer to the block and it should go rght on. I'm using 2g brackets on a 1g.

Re: Engine Install(2G)
I'm going to have to go ditto on the lower radiator hose clearance issue, that counterweight on the shifter linkage is a bit of a PITA. When I bought my car(6-bolt swap'd 2g), it had a 1g lower radiator hose on it & would not fully engage into 2nd or 4th because of it. You'd think this is something you'd notice? So yea, 2g lower radiator hose & I'm having no clearance issues now.

Re: Engine Install(2G)
I totally unbolted the pump from the braket and I turned it so the pully was as close as i could get it and the belt went on. its tight and the whole for the mounting dont line up. its almost like the belt is too short. i donno. i bought the belts at mitsubishi so i figure they should be right.

Does the car vibrate like hell at 4k? If so your balance shafts could be upside down (if you still have them).

Re: Engine Install(2G)
You have the wiring from the CAS hooked up to the right wires on the harness? If your car is 95-96 did you swap the plug wires? Everything timed good and nothing off a tooth? Just some things to check that could play a role in the way your car is acting up.

Re: Engine Install(2G)
How did you get the ps pump thing working? Did you leave it like you had it? Just not bolt it on. I hope there wasn't a reason your friend got the motor for free. If the cas wasn't installed correctly, the car most likely wouldn't start so I don't think that was the problem.

Re: Engine Install(2G)
If the car is a 95-96 you need to swap injector wires as well as the ignition wires.
