I'm kind of neutral on the subject.
#1. I don't smoke and don't plan on ever smoking.
#2. I'm 15, don't really go out to the bars much.
#3. I don't see the reality of it. How many small bars are actually going to tell their customers they can't. Pot's illegal, too, so that means no one does it. :bs:
#4. If people want to kill themselves go ahead, people going to a bar should expect smoking. If bartenders don't want to be working in "dangerous" situations, they shouldn't be working in a bar.

california has that law statewide, but we dont have winter. Its actually pretty cool though, they set up a room for smokers that is a good way to meet people, its more of a chilling room where all the hot ass girls with fake boobs hang out. im sure most bars in minneapolis will have that too.

It's awesome, I flat love it. It's pretty much the only reason I hate going to bars, I walk out feeling like I smoked a pack or two...

It's great. I'd love to be able to go to Applebees and eat without it smelling like an old ashtray. It'd also be nice to be at a bar and not breathe that either, but most bars I go to don't have many smokers anyways. The problem with smoking is that it affects everyone around them, so there are a lot of good reasons against it in public buildings. If you want to kill yourself and devalue your property, do it in your car or house.
Also, read farther down in the article, St. Paul's mayor says he'd approve the ban for St. Paul now. They'll probably follow suit around the same time, next spring.

Well, when St. Paul passes it as well (which they will), then your clubbing days are probably over everywhere.
This is one of the best laws to be passed in this state ever since Ventura overturned the emissions testing. Maybe this will make smoking less 'trendy' in today's youth.

I feel the government is overstepping their boundaries in telling business owners how to run their establishment. Non-smoking supporters need to remember that smoking is LEGAL. They tend to equate it to marijuana or coke, where being around it will get you addicted or something. Until the government declares tobacco illegal, which they won't because they make too much money off it, a business owner should have the right to make rules in his own establishment.
And if there are so many people who want to go to a smoke-free bar, someone would have started one and they would be doing great business.

quite honestly when i go out, i never really notice the smoke.
maybe its the places i go to, or the people im with, but really it isnt a big deal.
the problem is the ghetto ass bars where all the hicks and WT people hang out that makes it all smoky.
also i partied in duluth a couple times and never even realized a difference with their smoking ban....
but i do think it is a good idea, smoking is bad anyways

I dont smoke, so it's great for me. I wont go out for some pool and come home smelling like shit.
Im completely against it though, as far as the Gov't telling you what you can do, and holding your hand because you cant make your own decisions. Bars could have banned smoking if they wanted to.

I'm glad it's passed. It wouldn't be so bad if bar's/restaurant's actually had separate rooms for smokers/non-smoker's. I"m tired of going to places and smelling of smoke or having to inhale the shit.

I think it's retarded. I don't smoke but seriouslly, if you go to a bar, you gotta expect people to be smoking. I'd say over half of the people who go to clubs or bars are smokers, so I'm guessin this is gunna kill the bars income. What's next, no more alcohol in bars because people are tired of drunk people hitting on them?

I don't really care about bars, I don't go to them. I'm referring more so to restaurants.

well you oughta start! lots of fun can be had as long as you go with a fun crowd! nothing beats going to a bar, gettin shitty drunk, and making out with random ugly chicks, not remembering it, and then hearing about it the next day from people who do remember it.
