Everyone hates, yet I gaurantee they wouldn't pass one down. And the whole investing this does sound smart, but it seemed the deal was a new car, not just some cash to do what he wishes with. His parents probably want him to have a new car with a warantee and will be reliable transportation while he's away from home at school. I'm happy for ya man. My parents don't have money to buy me somethin like that, but yours do and I ain't going to hate. Congrats and enjoy the car.

NO... Correction I worked hella hard for the talon .I worked a SIX FLAGS for two years. So Boo ya ! I'm not a spoiled brat, just a Lucky Kid thats all. Don't think that I don't appreciate my gift. I didn't even want a car because I already had one. But my dad being a FORD guy, he wanted to buy me a ford and not letting him would of pissed him off.
Yeah of pics, I going to barrow my friends camera. But I really don't know how to post them. Oh well I'll learn, since some out there don't BELIEVE! LOL. Thats cool I could believe it either. So know I have to go up to all my ricer friends tell them I have a ford. But I still have the Talon... ha.
Oh DSM Chick, well there ya go, I do work pretty hard. By the way my parents don't have to pay for me going to school, I earned a full schoolarship to go there. SO BOO Ya! LOL

You work hard because you put in 2 years at an amusement park?
Anyrate, appreciate it.

Yea all the boo ya stuff and the six flags working just shows me what kind of kid you are. And its not just a "lucky kid"
How did you earn the scholarship? If its because you got straight A+'s I congratulate you but if you got a in becuase of anything that has to do with sports than your just a spoiled brat.
No offense
There are plenty of Fords that are reliable and have warranty also like the focus or the basic mustang... One that is 40k better be reliable and have warranty.
I look at all the things Ive done to my car from scratch and then look at how you do things with money and thats what makes me frown. Sure I wouldnt pass up a nice car but I would buy a used car by far for less than half of 40K and be just fine.

Yeah shit, I have been working since the exact day I turned 14(I am 20 now). And with all that, I finally got one of my dream cars and it only cost me 10k with mods and car included.
But oh well, some people crawl through life, the others get carried...

Oh man jealousy sure is a bitch. I've worked since I was 14 as well. First job was a baseball umpire. Working and going to school is hard work, be it an amusment park or McDonald's. It's not easy. Some people get taken out to dinner as a treat for doing a good job, some people can afford to buy them a new car for their hard work. If you were loaded and your son just earned a scholorship, I'm sure you'd wanna reward him nicely. And a nice car that has a warantee and should last would prolly make a mother feel good knowing her kid isn't gunna have his car break down late at night in a bad Cali neighborhood. And hey their obviously pretty rich, so why not make it a reliable, badass car since its pocket change to them. He appreciates it. He hasn't given any reason to show he isn't grateful. Why the hell does everyone gotta try to bring him down. He worked hard, got a scholorship, and got a badass reward. Maybe your idea of working hard and his is a lil different. That would make sense considering he was just in school and you've been in the working world for awhile. It's a whole different level once you get outta high school. Once again, congrats man, enjoy what you got, appreciate it, and keep workin hard so you can do the same to your kids when they graduate!

Yeah its an expensive car and all, but I got into dsms because unlike Hondas they can go fast.* The only original goal I had was to run low 13s to beat Z06s and Mustangs because it seems when people get older they go blow their money on these cars because they can.** I get sick of seeing 17 yr old kids driving their parents or their parent-paid for cars.* So yeah you earned your car by getting into school and all, but if your at a stoplight, I will still blow right past ya (unless your in your talon).

Leave the kid alone... yea I bet if your parents would have given you an '03 cobra you'd turn it down right? wrong.
And about you blowing past him at a stoplight - I dont know how fast your car is, but an '03 cobra has a hell of a lot more potential than a dsm. Spend $4000 and you have 650whp. Geting that much power out of a dsm would cost well over $10,000 in mods requiring an all new short block, new tranny, etc. I know Chris Carey just put about $11,000 into his motor alone and is hoping to get 550whp. Plus, the cobra will pull waaaay better 60's with the right tires and minimal suspension mods than your average awd dsm.
I'm not dogging dsms, just pointing out that the newer cobras are p.i.m.p. They are a much better platform to build on than your car or my car.
Congrats on the new car! Take care of it!

First he made a post asking which car he should get, then made a post to say which one he chose. I know if I just graduated high school and my parents bought me a pimp ride I'd probably tell all my car buds. I wouldn't consider that blabbing.
edit: whoops, this is redstal on chris' computer

Its just too bad it costs 30 k to get into a new cobra. so with the AWD dsm i just bought that leaves me with 29,600 dollars left for mods! So I guess if you are talking about performance for the buck by cheap used car and make it how you want it. Thats in my opinion!!

As for 237 dollar a month payments, that would be around a 9 and a half year loan with 0% interest. on a 5 year loan with current interest rates you would pay around 18-20 dollars a month per thousand borrowed.

Your right I would take it, turn around and sell it. Thats my personal opinion, but like I said PROPS TO HIM FOR EARNING IT. My parents never had lots of money, I do. When my kids turn 18 etc if they earn it, Hell Yeah I am gonna buy them an expensive car. Thats just how it goes.
And as far as potential, for $30,000 and then investing $4000. I would love to see him try to read my license plate after a quarter mile.

Sumthin for nothing? The kid just graduated high school and got a scholorship to a college. That's something I'd say. Like you've never gotten a gift? geez man. Just cuz his is probably a more expensive present, you feel you gotta bring him down. And to whoever said they could build a performance car for far cheaper. Once again, I'm guessing this wasn't bought to be a project performance car. I'm guessing his parents wanted to get him a nice new car so that they knew once their lil baby left home, he wouldn't have to worry about having a car break down. Not to build a high power DSM that is gunna have all the problems that we all experience with ours.
