Re: project darkness

Another ebay gt45 turbo for now. Over winter I am going to buy big cam, better valve springs and a real turbo. I would like to get the truck tuned soon so I can go play before summer is over. I need to find some sticky tires for it.

Re: project darkness

Well I got the bitch running again. Runs alot better still needs a tune. I can only boost in 3rd gear. 1st gear it goes into boost then hits a wall. It does the same thing in 2nd gear. But in 3rd you can just floor it and spools up and goes.

Re: project darkness

Well yesterday I was driving the truck and everything was going just fine. I figured out my 1st and 2nd gear problem. But after I did a couple pulls I brake boosted from a dead stop and boom. Iam hoping the torque converter broke. So I will be pulling the tranny out today. Feel free to swing by. I am going to have the tranny looked at before putting it back together. The converter that's in the truck I am pretty sure its not built for a turbo application

Re: project darkness

Well it only took a couple hours to get the transmission out. Now am looking for a place or person that can inspect the transmission before I order a new converter. Hopefully I will have it back together in a couple of weeks. If anybody knows of a good place/person that can inspect my transmission send me a pm. Here's a pic.

Re: project darkness

Well the transmission is getting rebuilt. Pulled the pan off and it didn't look good. Lots of metal shavings.... Took the pump out and started taking the clutches out. We gout done to the 1st clutch pack and it was smoked. Here's a pic. I am sure you can tell what ones are bad. I should have the transmission back Saturday and hopefully if I have help I could have the truck done Saturday night. I did some research and found out I am really pushing this transmission to the limit. So maybe over winter if I decide to build this truck up I will buy a fully built th400 which will be good for 900hp. Shipped to my door for 1750.

Re: project darkness

A gt45 and a v8 should easily be able to do 900hp

Re: project darkness

I have a th350 right now. Going to switch to a th400 over winter. I do have a 4l80 at work but I would need a new converter a new shifter and some other shift to make it work. I am kinda wishing I just bought a new transmission instead of getting this one rebuilt. But I can always swap this into the vette.

Re: project darkness

Ha, just watched Street Outlaws last night and they swapped a 4L80 in place of the TH400 on the Farmtruck. He did have to do the shifter and such as well. Overdrive rules.

That farm truck is pretty badass. He's running a lot of juice on that motor.

Re: project darkness

TH350's can be built halfway decent I thought, but for 900hp yeah might as well go 400. Sounds like you got a good plan!
