Re: Timing Belt Movement - Normal?

Motor had roughly 70k when I bought it and I've put about 2k on it since then. The 60k was just recently before I bought it so I'd guess 10k but I don't know for sure. I was pushing/pulling pretty much as hard as I could if that helps, hard to really say though without really being the one pressing. I wish I would've tried this with my dsm back when I had it so I could compare it to that.

If your pushing hard like your saying and thats the movement then I'd say its good to go. Is there any odd noise coming from the belt? I know if you go to tight you'll get a funny harmonic noise from the belt when reving it.

Re: Timing Belt Movement - Normal?

When driving next to a bridge/barrier with the windows down you can hear some sort of slight noise. The noise is very, very faint and can not be heard with the windows up or if the windows are down but the radio is on. It doesn't change pitch with reving so it never really bothered me too much.

When looking at it earlier today the acces belt auto tensioner moves back and forth at idle when the cams lope. I think that might be bad and might be the source of the noise as i can't hear the same noise when standing above the motor.

Re: Timing Belt Movement - Normal?

Tiny update, drove the car a couple hundred miles over the weekend and it did just fine. Got home and the belt seemed like it was maybe a hair bit looser. Tore it apart and all seemed normal. Decided to ditch the gates kevlar belt and just get a standard belt. So far so good, so not really sure. Maybe it was the belt or something else.
