Re: Snowmobiles
Yeah nathan over at jspowersports sold me a large tank that I had on my 2009 iqr but I will only ride off the track a few times so the little tank will work.
Here is this years sled.

Re: Snowmobiles
Race sleds are very nice but to high in maintenance. Was going to buy one till I found out there's a lot more then just turning the timing down and switching the heads for a real trail worthy sled. They talk about cutting the front suspension down, making grease points etc.. I wasn't going to do that this year maybe next year tho.. Any who sled looks awesome!

Re: Snowmobiles
Dang just saw this thread today! Went for a 60 miles 4 hour ride on Friday around somerset WI, decent trails there but I really hate city style driving, where you cross lots of roads and deal with towns.
Best riding so far ive ever done us up north past duluth and also around hayward Wi, all forest. Ill have to check out hastings and cannon falls. Maybe next weekend.
Its supposed to warm up next weekend, which would suck.
I plan to take 2 big trips this year, Hayward and Lutsen.

Re: Snowmobiles
Thanks Jim, Matt D., Matt, Dan and Brandon for coming out on Sunday,
Trails were so-so, good in the morning, but lots of traffic hit us in the afternoon and made for a rough ride back. I think everyone had a good time. I know I did!
Only one sled died during the ride, luckly it happened right at the beginning, RIP ole 1989 El tigre' siezed engine.
So who wants to plan the next ride? I found someone who will loan me a trailer so I am game for some more rides for sure!
Shawn
P.s. Bummer you couldnt come along Peter, I agree the best riding is north past duluth and hayward Wi as well, some of the best riding I have ever done has been in those areas as well.

Re: Snowmobiles
I want to get a decent sled for next year. Hopefully after I graduate in May I can find a decent job and get a newer Yamaha. Get a single trailer and pull that sucker behind the Evo!!! lol
Best riding I have ever done was in the UP of Michigan, after that it was all just MN riding, but there are some nice wide open trails up by Two Harbors, or if you are looking for something closer to the metro, Moose Lake area was fun also. This was all years ago when I had my sled though, it could have changed by now I suppose. I just hate the kidney busting ditch riding, I'll leave that to the 18 year old kids and the guys that think they are snocross racers lol

Re: Snowmobiles
Sorry i missed this, I was up north. We went riding on saturday on the Swampsiders trails in big fork/Cocheran trail for about 2.5 hours. and then on sunday ran the Taconite. One of our sleds the gas gauge wasnt reading right and i filled it up a bit before we left, it looked pretty full, but boy was i wrong. after doing about 45 minutes on the taconite we decided to turn around and head back to my parents, about 15 minutes on the ride back my sled ran out of gas. hahaha. So i had to take our other sled back to the gas station and pick up some gas and can. We were out for about 3.5-4 hours. hahah.
I really want to get a new sled soon, Really want a polaris Rush. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/da...123182337.html Talk about losing value fast, last year new these sleds were over 10k.

Re: Snowmobiles
Haha running out of gas on a long woods trail would suck!
Im down for the next run around the cities here, that would be a good time!
Im guessing this weekend the trails will be in crap shape, its supposed to rain thursday and friday. I might go fishing instead but well see, if it change to all snow, im game.
A pic from last friday:

Re: Snowmobiles
Thanks Shawn for the invite! Just a great day of riding.
Trails were fast and smooth for half the day, the way back was a mix of smooth sections and bumpy sections but still didn't have a problem opening it up on the way back
No bare areas, all snow so that was awesome! Would ride down there again in a heart beat.

The trails were awesome. Taconite was nice, not too busy, only saw maybe 4 groups. There was a section before 65 that was pretty much all ice, but other than that it was smooth sailing. Looks like they had been doing some logging around there but all in all good ride.
we are planning on going up the 2nd or third week in january.

You must be referring to the "beastly" 600 XC that MattD was taming. He got that big-block to fly through the air near the end of the ride!

Dont have a cabin I graduated in Grand Rapids. My whole dad's side lives up there. I usually stay with my dad, friends or at the girlfirends mom's house. But I know where scenic 7 is and have been down it but only on 4 wheelers. It's prob 10 to 15 mins away from my dads...

Re: Snowmobiles
We should have a mitsustyle sled drag. Find some lake and have a path made and race like a dyno day. I will try to go next time. I need to find a truck and trailer.

Depends on what kind of sled your talking about but to just trail ride a race sled is not whether IMO!
