Re: Project: 99 Eclipse GST Motor Pull and upgrade

Alright cool, I will stay with the MAS. Here's the progress, got the motor and tranny pulled, now just trying to decide what to spend the cash on, and if I should send the tranny to John Sheppard and have it built or not...

Should find yourself an awd parts car, and make all those mods worth your while

Re: Project: 99 Eclipse GST Motor Pull and upgrade

haha, yea i know, that would be a good choice, but im stickin with the fwd, less parts to fix and upgrade.... I'm lookin at running between 400-550hp now, will the dejon short route IC piping with the mishimoto intercooler they sell be a good choice for that kind of power?

Also I'm looking at what to get for FWD components in the front end... What all should I upgrade other then the axels/driveshafts, a-arms, wheel bearings?

Axles should be fine, as well as your A-arms, but I would definitely invest in some good springs/shocks or coilovers. Those will be about your best chance at getting any kind of traction. And with your power goals, you probably still won't be able to hook up until about halfway through 4th gear.

You will have alot of fun hooking up with fwd. I was making over 400 in the talon before I took it all back off. I would not hook till the end of 4th gear with some sticky 18's on the car. even know with the evo 3 16g it will spin through 3rd

Re: Project: 99 Eclipse GST Motor Pull and upgrade

So would you say it would be to much to have 450hp? I want to have a nice build incase I ever get an awd or awd shell, i could already have a powerhouse of a motor to swap in

Would a stage 1 build w/ a LSD from sheptrans be enough to hold 450hp?

Id going AWD is in your future plans, I would say do that first. Having big HP is pretty much useless on a FWD street car.

Would be plenty to hold the power, it all depends on how you drive it. If you plan on pounding the shit out of it....I wouldn't hold my breath.

Keep your block, the 95-96 7-bolts are the ones with the most problems. Have Shep do the basic rebuild with the LSD like you mentioned and you'll be good.

Cool, thats the plan then. Does anybody have an opinion on the dejontool Short Route IC kit? It looks like it comes with a mishimoto intercooler? Anyone have one?
