Go with a VW TDI. 40-45mpg on a diesel. Get the monsoon stereo option and you are set with a very comfy ride.

as a mechanic at toyota, I can say go with the camry. looks are better, more room, has a bit more power, etc etc etc. prius batteries fail from time to time. camry's have a dash squeek (service bulletin is out for it). But, overall the camry is a better. car.
