Re: How Old Were You In 1991??

23. I remember them but the thought of $16K at the time was way out of my range. I took out my first car loan that year for a 1984 Trans Am HO for $5000, I thought those payments were high.

As a sidenote, my buddy in the NAVY bought a 1990 Eclipse base in February of 1989 and when we road around in that thing, people thought we were rich boys. Nobody knew what it was since there were none on the road at that time and people thought it was a Porsche. Kinda funny now that you can pick one up for $50.

5! I have all these unopened Automobile Magazines from the early 90s, they all have DSMs on the covers and stuff. I have opeded and read a few, its crazy to see how many advertisements had DSMs, or all the "first drives" about 1G DSMs. The editors ranted and raved about the high-tech powerplant with its balance shafts, and oh, the speed. They couldn't believe the performance. Back in the early 90s, the DSMs were pretty fast for stock cars. Cool stuff

Big 4-0 next year eh?

I was overseas in the Military from 84-87 and some GI got a brand new Starion or Conquest, can't remember which. It was bright red and always parked outside the post office on base. There was always a crowd around that car.

Yep, scary thought. I was in the Navy from 87-89, got out on my 21st b-day.

9 and didn't know they even existed. Raised up on Oldsmobile 455 power and other GM power plants.

It is funny how the magazines thought they were fast at that time. Now they would be kind of slow. It is kind of nice that there is a strong aftermarket support for this car. And it is amazing how much power we can get out of these things now!
