Re: New TV today!
I need some fast replies, Which brands should I stay away from? Going to get a new one in about 2 hours today. What to look for? What to stay far far away from?
Thanks!

Re: New TV today!
Why are you getting a new one? 1080? Id say research some models before you just go pick one...

Re: New TV today!
Yeah I'm getting 1080, Thats all I have been doing is researching for the past 3 days. Way to many aspects to flutter the mind, All of them make themselves look like the best. I think I have it narrowed down a bit. The response time in my samsung vs sharp tvs is quite a bit different. 8ms vs 4ms.

Re: New TV today!
Samsung is great... basically stay away from anything you haven't heard of an get some info on the manufacturer warranty, Samsung warranties tend to be good.

Re: New TV today!
Remeber, the 4ms vs 8ms isn't accurate, that just represents what generation it is. The 4ms will be one generation newer than the 8ms one. In generalities I would go Samsung, but like Peter said, research the specific models if one catches your eye. Why did you decide to go 1080 on a TV that size?

The 8ms vs 4ms is interesting, I wasn't aware of that.

Re: New TV today!
It is the same way with LCD monitors, they start skewing the tests more and more the farther they get down to help them fudge the numbers. There will be a difference, but not a full 4ms, probably 2-3ms.

Re: New TV today!
Well I settled for basically the same thing as I got. It has 1080p now and the contrast ratio is 10000 vs 9000:1 now. The one I wanted they didn't freakin have so I got the one just below it. Now I just have a headache..

Re: New TV today!
Well planning on going and getting another tv tomorrow. Looking at getting a 52" Samsung 120hz LCD. One thing I need help with is what series to get.. 650, 750, or the 850. Leaning towards the 650 just because of the money side naturally but the 850 I would think would obviously be "better".
What do you guys think?

Re: New TV today!
We just picked up a 46" A630 for my girlfriend a couple weeks ago. You don't see them in the stores as muc,h but it's pretty much identical to the A650, except for the screen has a matt finish instead of the glossy screen on the A650. She has a window facing the TV, so the matt finish screen helps cut down on glare a good bit.
I highly recommend it. We got her the TV, along with a Samsung Blue-ray, and the Samsung reciever/surround setup. It's amazing. Her new setup blows my 720p setup outta the water.
The 120hz is something else!! Things will zip by on the screen, but won't go out of focus. It's incredible. It does take a little getting used to though, because it's so in focus, unblurry, crystal clear, that it sometimes just tweaks you out. I highly recommend it!
Also, we got it all off Amazon. Quite a bit cheaper if you're on a tight budget, and delivered right to your doorstep! Circuit City did say they'd work with us on the price though, so if you're looking to stay local, they were the best about trying to price match.

Re: New TV today!
Well we got the last one at sears, and looks like we are going to go with them again. 3 years no interest and tomorrow is the last day of it I guess. 650 is about two even give or take then the 850 is about 2700 +/- a bit. The in law has the 750 and it blows my "standard" 40 inch sammy lcd out of the water. There is no comparing.

Re: New TV today!
We didn't research into the 700 and 800 series. The 630/650 seemed like it had pretty much everything. 1080p, 120hz, more inputs/outputs then we'd ever need. What does the 700 series ones have that justifies another near $1k?

Re: New TV today!
The 700/800 series have slightly more contrast I think, and more inputs. The 800 series is only 1.9" thick, pretty crazy.

Re: New TV today!
Well we bought the 52 inch 120hz 1080p 650 LCD. Not going to take delivery of it until we move into our house.
Main differences from what my short research was 850 was the thin one and like the 750 has built in hard drive that has games and pictures. That was it.. The all had 120hz they all were 50,000:1 contrast ratio. The housings were the only real difference. Picture quality in all three were all the same from what I could tell. They had the 650 and 850 side by side and there wasn't anything different that I could tell.
Here it is: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ame=Flat+Panel

Re: New TV today!
Sounds like lots of people are getting nice TV's! We just have a lowly Samsung 40" 1080p LCD.
