Rat Rod's have been around longer than all of us on this site have been alive. Not going anywhere either.
Sad they did this to an evo, but whatever. People have to get attention some how I guess.

Re: rat rod evo
Yeah, arn't rat rods supose to be an old beater someone sunk money into to go fast but not spend the time to always make it look nice, or reliable?
In that case, wouldn't a DSM be a rat rod?

Ok, maybe it has a little to do with the color. Still, they aren't very interesting to me.

Re: rat rod evo
I would not even consider that a rat rod.
Never seen a rat rod with: 4 doors, comfortable space for 4 adults, 6 gears, reliability, turbocharger, is brand new, all wheel drive, and fuel injection.
Just does not seem right to me.

Re: rat rod evo
yeah I thought rat rods are stuff you kind of just put together with spare parts that you have in your garage...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_rod
Or here is the wiki term for it.
I think the Evo is a rat rod wantabe but I think what is a better deffinition is a 1G DSM with a dirty engine bay but big turbo, interior stripped out, loud exhaust probably from an exhaust pipe out the side, clear coat faded off, some sort of wire and zipties holding it together...and this could go on...
I kind of wanted to put together a photo book of cars like that with imports and domestics.

Re: rat rod evo
It is in rat rod style that the evo was done.
If I had time and less projects I would put together my 1931 chevy. make it a nicer looking rat rod in a velvet blue or purple paint

Re: rat rod evo
Someone was a little confused. The idea behind a Rat Rod was to take a low buck piece of shit antique beater and make it into a cool cruiser by scraping parts together and trying to build a piece before you tried to buy it, just like they would do back before aftermarket parts were readily available. This process involves many hours of cutting/grinding/welding, tons of used (very used) parts and very little cash. Rat Rods are more about personal accomplishments between man and car, not cubic dollars spent.
A new car covered in flat black paint doesn't make it a Rat Rod.
Fast Eddie smoked a big fat dick on this one.
*thumbs down*

Re: rat rod evo
I don't know about this one. First pic looked cool, but then the after shots made me kinda want to puke. I have seen well executed rat-rods, but I dunno about this. I agree with the idea that maybe some people look at these imports as our generation's "hot rods"

Re: rat rod evo
Every thing looks nice besides for that shifter. I hate to see how they shift into reverse. Unless they dropped the 5spd in there. But still that high up wow.
