Wow, that makes me want to dig up some old threads when we were bitching at you Tom! Tom is right though, think of it as showing respect to everyone else on the board.

Re: Newbie opinions

You know, I see more and more comparisons of us to NABR. Now while we are in no way near the level they are in terms of how a board is ran I do take it as a compliment. Steve mentioned that he used to deal with member over ther quite often about the rules and such and after some time of people bitch you tend to see those who stuck around agree and love the format. It's such a clean site, easy to navagate, and yet they still have their fun.

With us it's easy to see after a short while that this is more than just a DSM site. We have members from all over the US here and 90 % of the registered memebers own DSMs but those that frequent the site the most are generally located in the MN and surrounding areas and a far less majority own DSMs. We now have S2000s, 3Ss, EVOs, BWMs, ect ect. It's definatly more of a community rather than just another car site. I've met some of my best friends through this long 5-6 year process of building this site while getting started as a regular posting goon back in the MIAC days. i udes 2 tpye likke dis eryday. And people bitched. I still type like this and if you'd see how I type you'd be like, "wtf".

People come and people go. Those who stay for the long haul end up getting something out of thise site. Be it tech advice, good laughs, or some new friendships. Maybe even a new shop to go to or a new guy they buy their cars from. Those relationships build up through others and build up respect for many people on the site. There are very very very few people on this site I don't get along with, and those I don't I still respect for some obvious reasons.

Untill people learn it's not about getting 50 posts to get more permissions it won't matter as much. And in the end it's more or less only going to matter to those who want to stick around and give it a try. In the end they usually agree.

I think 50 posts is a good mark to have. I can knock out 50 posts in 3-4 days of solid posts if I wanted. The off topic forum is so fucking open to anything it's not even funny. News, other hobbies, parts reviews, girl problems, advice questions (we have some members who can give GREAT advice on various things), career questions, and not to mention tech questions, posting videos, general chit chat to other posts, ect ect. As long as I don't see someone post "heheh that's so true" or "I agree" to 30 thread in one day I don't care as much. Make them count. In then end with the way we are 95% of the members just get better in their general posting style that even they get sick of other new memebrs after they get their feet wet.

"Perps" have to register with local authorities when moving into a new area.

Re: Newbie opinions

As for the NABR comparison, people are way off. It's apples vs oranges.

If DSMStyle were anything like NABR, we would have shut down a long time ago due to low membership numbers. Most newbies would never get past their second post.

Trust me, I'm a member of NABR and I can personally tell you DSMStyle is much, much easier on it's members by a long shot. There are other NABR members here also who will tell you the same thing.
