I have only had the SC300 intake manifold for a year or so and I have given up on that project. It's the one on this page: http://fsmoto.net/products.html

Re: Project Lex
Didn't get a whole lot done. What I discovered is it appears to be impossible to completely remove the lower oil pan without either removing the engine, or removing this big arse cross-member. I needed about another 1/4" but couldn't jack the motor up any further to get that extra little bit. Oh well.
I was however able to just drop it as far as it will drop, and can slide some newspaper in there. You can see where I circled, that's where I need to drill for the oil drain line. So the newspaper should catch almost all of the metal flakes from getting into the lower oil pan.
Now just need to get a right angle drill, a Uni-bit, and that should take care of that.

Re: Project Lex
Well I've been stuck in Naw'lens for the past few weeks so haven't been able to make much progress. But with the extra money I'm making, decided to spend a little bit on a turbo blanket to keep things as cool as possible. Very excite!

Re: Project Lex
Not too much to update. But I've gotten the oil drain hole drilled out with a 7/8" hole saw. And the two bolt holes are tapped (M6x1.0).
Here's some pics:

Re: Project Lex
How do you clean the shavings that may have got into the oil pan?

Re: Project Lex
Lower and Upper oil pan? I'm confizzled.
I think some of the poopra guys use stock 3000GT ignitors as an upgrade also don't they?

Re: Project Lex
I dropped the lower oil pan and put that newspaper that you see in the pics there to catch the shavings. Apparently some people do it without dropping the pan at all. I didn't want to risk that so that's why I dropped the lower pan so I could catch the shavings on that newspaper.
As for ignitors, yeah I'll cross that road when I ditch the stock distributor. For now I'm keeping the distributor. Try to do things 1 by 1 as much as I can to make troubleshooting as simple as possible.

Re: Project Lex
Drilled the oil filter union bolt to accept a 1/8npt fitting for my oil feed. You can either buy one for an IS300 for like $25 and it's already tapped, or just drill the stocker. And well, considering I already had a 1/8npt tap, and access to free drill bits and a drill press, that was an easy choice
Lots o lube:
Pilot drilled:
Hole drilled using "R" size drill bit, and de-burred:
Tapped for 1/8npt. Wish I coulda tapped further but it was getting HARD. That look good enough to you guys?:
1/8npt to -3AN fitting installed. Used some liquid pipe thread sealing compound on it:
OFH installed back on the car, badda bing:
Also installed the drain fitting. Need a gasket for that thing yet...
