I'm not going to shoot at 100yds very often, maybe a couple times a year. The reason I gave that number was just for max distance. The events I want to attend are usually shot at a closer range (25-50yds) with simulated small targets for longer ranges.
I was looking briefly at the 22 WMR, hadn't really considered a 17 HMR before. I know ammo is more, but how much more? I guess I could do some research to find out how much, the gun price is basically identical between the different rounds. The main reason for going with .22LR was mostly for convenience when I'm shooting with others.
I had the opportunity to fart around with one of the smith and wesson m&p 15-22's, and it def was a fun little .22. AR feel (not identical, but they designed it to operate similar to an AR), and go for around $300, I have seen a few lightly used ones for around that. The one cool thing about those, is accessories are easily added, just like an AR, and of course the cheap ammo cost. I wouldn't mind getting one just to shoot for fun, but talked myself into getting something a little bigger.
I find I have to hold over about 12" at 100 yards with my 10/22 shooting standard velocity ammo. It is however zero'd for 25 yards. I found charts claiming everything from 5.5" drop, to 7" drop to almost 13" drop as here:
Take your pic. Personally I think 22LR is silly at 100 yards.
Right, 13" drop if you hold the barrel at 90*. Since nobody does this, you won't have 13" drop. Even that chart, indicated by "path in." shows 4.74" of drop when zeroed at 59 yards.

That's true. And if you zero it at 100 yards then there's zero drop!

Yes but shooting the gun level yields the 13" drop at 100 the yards. But when you site in your gun at 100 yards you are aiming 13" above the target, thus no drop but anything less then 100I yards will be high.

Put together my lower tonight, a Spikes receiver and parts kit. Saving up to purchase a PSA upper next paycheck, should be able to start shooting next year.
my brother in law picked up this this past weekend, i will be getting something similar in a month or two.

Mmmmm.....god damnit Kevin. I've been eyeing up saigas lately, and that thing makes me want one bad. You and Jordan the tuner are bad influences haha.
I'll be buying something fun sometime soon. Going to get an AR15, and either a pistol (glock most likely), or maybe one of those keltec ksg shotguns...they look sort of fun
