Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Thanks guys! It's the exact setup I was looking for so I'm very pleased with it!

Got my head back from Primo tonight. I have the day off tomorrow so we'll see how close I get to finishing it.

Evo valve springs and retainers, and Supertech valve stem seals.

Heat barrier intake manifold gasket.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Got the car running this morning. I had an injector get stuck closed on me and wouldnt fire. (stupid 1600's) Once that started working I drove the car to work and all was well. The car drove smoother then it ever has before. Took a friend from work for a ride in the car after aligning it and I was accelerating in 2nd gear. Not hard, about 1/4 throttle. Then all of a sudden the engine shut off on me. I tried jumping it while still rolling and nothing. Coasted safely to a parking lot and tried to start it once more with just a quick flip of the key and it didnt sound good at all. Had AAA come tow the car and once I got it home ripped into it as fast as I could. Found out the oil pump seized. I thought I locked the engine up cause I couldnt get it to budge, spinning the crank with a rachet. Once I got the timing belt off I checked the idler and tensioner and they were good. Then went to move the oil pump sprocket and it was frozen solid. Timing was still all lined up perfectly and once I had the belt off, the crank spun nice and freely. I still have yet to take the front case off to see what damage was done.. Hopefully I just need a new front case/ oil pump.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Got the talon running tonight! It's gone more then 5 miles unlike last time haha. The car had a HUGE boost leak but it still pulled like a mofo. I tried not to beat on it too much though. Once I got it home I did a boost leak test and found out I installed my boost controller backwards cause I'm a nub cake. My throttle body also leaked pretty good and my BOV gasket. Got those fixed so we'll see how it drives tomorrow. Only thing I'm concerned about is how much shaft play the turbo has.. As long as it makes it to Boost for Boobies, dyno's and drives home I wont lose my mind and sell the damn thing. Now I just gotta tune, tune, tune!

Here are a couple pics I've been to lazy to post up.

CXRacing aluminum radiator with 2 10" slim fans. 1 pusher 1 puller.

Porting I did to the oil relief valve after deleting my balance shafts. (Ported on right, stock on left.)

Made a bracket to mount my boost controller.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Car stays around 180-190 all the time now

Well where to start.. I'm getting a really bad studder/hesitation at low rpm as the turbo starts spooling. I boost leak tested the car and fixed 2 minor leaks. The o2 sensor stopped working on me so my car wouldnt idle and I was in traffic.. I probably melted the wiring again although I wrapped the hell out of it with heat wrap. I think I'll just simulate the o2 using link for now. I got a fitting for the turbo to take the restrictor off the feed line. My oil pressure before I ported the oil relief valve was 20psi idle and 100+ WOT. Now after porting it, it's 10psi idle and 75-80psi WOT.

That's about it. Really need to figure this studdering issue out..

Washed the car for the first time since last summer. The direct sunlight basically killed 90% of my pics but a couple turned out ok.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Well I guess it's time for an update.. I basically gave up on the car for a good month. I got sick of putting money into the car and removing/re-installing the same parts over and over just to figure out more problems.

Basically the new wiring harness I bought developed an issue where my ecu wouldn't shut off and all my dash lights would stay on. So I pulled the harness back out, (This being the 5th time) and transfered everything back to my original harness that I cut up just trying to fix the one I bought. I got the harness all back together and taped up. I had to force myself to even get this far on my car. Then it took even more self motivation to actually put the damn thing into my car.

So I eventually sucked it up and got the harness in my car and it fired up and shut off perfectly. That night I put a quick tune on it at 26psi and just beat the living hell out of it. I ended up catching air at 110mph at one point. I didn't care I was trying to blow the damn thing up. The only issue that came up that night was not being able to shift at 8k after beating on it for so long. Other than that, it took the beating like a champ!

Lately I've just been driving the car to work and wherever else I need to go. I haven't even put the laptop on it for awhile. I plan on getting the thing tuned and running perfect probably tomorrow morning.

One thing that's changed with my car is I ended up buying a smaller battery. It's for a '01 honda civic and about half the size. I had to make a new tie-down for it and this is what I came up with.

Simple and works well.

Also after putting the harness in the car sooo many times I gave up on hiding it 100% like it used to be. It's basically just laying along the crossmember now, compared to before when I had it come up behind the intake manifold. But I really don't care anymore. It's clean enough..

I tried taking a HDR pic of the engine bay but with the lighting I had it just looks too over-done. But here it is anyway.

I plan to take the car out once it gets nicer and do a photoshoot.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Ended up doing some un-expected tuning tonight with IwantA4g63t. We got the a/f to be a steady 11.8 with 18* peak timing at 26psi. We also calibrated the MAF pretty good to make the car happy with these stupid 1600's. I'm sure in about a week it will be all f'd up again.

I plan to make it to the dyno day but I don't get off work til 5. So who knows if I'll actually make it onto the dyno.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010

Thanks! Now that I think of it I haven't seen your car for like 2 years..

I think I'm just gonna spend the day cleaning things up. Alot of things need a fesh coat of paint from me taking my harness in and out multiple times and being careless.
