Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
^^ I need rims more then you do!
I need to find out what size tire to run/ if I need a spacer. I wont have a problem in the rear like AWD guys do. But I still have to clear the front struts. I have a little more than 1/4" of space between the back of the rim and strut right now. A 10mm spacer might be needed if I want some meaty tires.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I NEED RIMS MORE! I have crappy 2gB GSX wheels Boo hiss. But I'm cheap and the roads here suck so maybe I shouldn't get a nicer set?
I was looking at my engine bay, and because of you I really want to take it all apart and re-do everything... hahaha. Your harness is awesome. I like that your changed where it enters the engine bay. So you gonna be at the Dyno Days?

Your wheels look really good on your car. Not to mention you have some sticky tires on them. Since your car is down right now it would be a good time for you to clean it up a little more! I'm kinda glad this happened cause now I have all this time to do the things that have always kinda bothered me. Not to mention I was 12k miles overdue for a timing belt!!
And yes I'll be at the dyno day at MAP. Probably the one at DB too.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
I've had fd wheels on my car for 4 years now. tire size is 225 50 16 and they barrly clear the rear strut. You also have to notch the rear forward angled lower control arm even with spacers on them or else the wheels will rub. I made 530awhp last year and hooked up pretty good with 225's.

FWD
I'm curious about your clearance in the front though. How much room do you have between the tire and strut?
Right now I'm either going with 235/55r16 or I might go all out with spacers, extended studs and some really fat tires. Not sure!

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Great news! Somehow I got best of both worlds! FAT tire and no need for spacers. I ended up putting on 245/50r16's. I only have 2 on right now cause my work didn't have the others in stock. Those will get put on tomorrow. I think these wheels look SICK. I'm really excited to get the car down on all 4 and see how it looks! On to the pics!
(don't mind the thick layer of dust on the car )
LOOK AT THAT CLEARANCE!!
Less then a mm and it does not rub. I will be taking the hammer to the perch though to give me added comfort.
9" of tire-assfault traction goodness!

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
eeeh..I don't think they are the best looking wheels out there, but they do serve their purpose. Tell her if they are ugly, then she can buy you some nice 16x8-8.5" wide Kosei's, Volks, Works, etc. I am sure she'd shut it then.

That's actually only about 8" of contact patch Nice setup, but I've never really cared for the way FD wheels look.

I hope you get traction with those. I had them on my car when I was FWD for a while and they sucked bad. No traction till at least 3rd gear.

Re: 4g63tcrazy's new setup for 2010
Haha very true! Well I work at Tires Plus and these tires have the softest sidewalls for a performance tire. (That we carry.) All the others are stiff for cornering. They have a AA traction rating too. Either way I'll get more traction then I had before with low profile tires and 18" rims.
Update time.. Since I had the day off I installed the other 2 tires. Then I took them home and prepped the rims for paint. Ideally I would have painted the rims with the tires off but I can't have my car on jackstands taking up space. I ended up doing 3 coats of semi-gloss black and 2 coats of clear. They turned out pretty nice. While I was waiting for the paint to dry, I installed my fuse box and wired up my fans. I wired my fans up like stock for now. If that doesn't do the trick I'll add a switch later. I also took a hammer to the spring perch. Now I have 1/4" of clearance.
Here are a couple pics I took before I painted the rims.
