Water in the system--Warning to CAI users
91 gsx FMIC, CAI where SMIC used to be.
Cliff notes at bottom...
So yesterday I was driving home from work and I was almost home and it started raining harder and harder. I didnt see standing water in front of me in the right lane until the car in front of me went through it. I tried moving to the left lane but I didnt make it and I hit the water and drove through it while going to the left lane. Im not sure how deep it was maybe 2-3 inches of flowing water...
Anyway, so the car stalls and wont start up again, this is while Im coasting to a left turn lane. The car is dead, battery is already weak because its tiny and my flashers are going.
So I call AAA and they finally come and tow the car after sitting in it for 2 hours. Luckily someone stopped behind me and offered to push the car onto a side street so I dont get rear ended. This all the while it is downpouring.
I get it home and I take the plugs out- dry. I remove the intake to the turbo and the turbo looks dry but theres some water inside the inlet. I remove the upper IC pipe and take out the GM Maf and its soaked.
I end up removing the front bumper, FMIC and piping and dump out about 1/2 gallon of water.
I left it all to dry and Im wondering what else I should do.... The engine seemed to be turning over while I was trying to restart it after it died the first time... so I dont think its hydrolocked.
Cliff notes- Went through water puddle and sucked in alot of water through the turbo. Took FMIC etc all apart and dried it out. Plugs were dry.
