Four link suspension

Who has experience with it other than myself? I am going to be doing mine up over the winter so if anyone else is considering this, add your insight or questions. In the past my experience has been with pre-made kits, this one is completely fabbed by me (other than the frame rails) so I can do it a bit cleaner and add some of my own design into it. I would be interested in hearing all other opinions or design ideas.

Specifically for drag, no airbags, unless you decide to go for a ride with me, then there will be 1.

I have a some experience, and I have a few interesting ideas I came up with in the past.Including one(technically a 6-link) which uses axle wrap to put downward force on the axle itself.

Oh yeah, I have a really good program that models four link suspensions somewhere too, I'll see if I can dig it up

My dads 9 second car has one. There sort of a bitch to dial in but once you got it, they're good to go. He didn't have his NHRA license so he wasn't supposed to go 9's but he did a couple of times easily. When he got his car back from the Alston Chassis, he couldn't even get close to 9's. The was no weight transfer to the rear and he was spinning terrible. There are computer programs that help you dial it in. You have to find the center of the car, angles of inclination and all kinds of other stuff. By no means is a 4 link a bolt on and go.

I have worked with four link suspension in the past, tuning it will not be an issue. I will get together with Eric on this and see what his ideas are. Basically as with about every other thread I start, I am looking for improvements on what is currently available. Things that people have done that may not be common place are also of interest.

4-link is great, but it's hard to beat a good set of ladder bars to plant the rear end. 4-link is more adjustable for fine tuning which is why Raptor wants it I'm sure.

Not to mention that when your back-halving a car from scratch, you might as well do it right. Ladder bars are good if you have a budget of $150 and have an old Camaro.

Like Steve mentioned, when you are going through the trouble of back halving a car, it makes sense to go all the way and a four link is the best suspension for a drag car. There is nothing more tunable, for track conditions, car changes etc. It makes even that much more sense if you are doing a full tube chassis. You won't find any full tube cars with ladder bars for that reason.
