Re: Project V8killa

Things are moving along crazy fast it seems!

I still have my Kirkey with brackets for a 2g if you want something super light for the proving grounds. You trying to get it all done before proving grounds?

Re: Project V8killa

pump and install kit

pump with sock they sent. As you can see its going the wrong way so you can use the rubber gromment for the bottom "L" part of the sender.

I actually figured the sock thing out. You just dont use the one they send. Just use the stock one. The stock one sticks off the bottom not go across it.

Install kit

May have figured this out to. I think it requires drilling out the top of the sender and stick the nipple of the pump through. Then hook up the rubber line and clamp down. MAYBE???

plug on pump

Does not plug in like a 255 or dw300 so I guess when you get yours LMK what you do.

I guess I dont understand why they sent the huge sock. But since it goes across the bottom of the pump and not stick out like normal. I may have just over thought that part since the sock came with the kit why wouldn't it work? LOL

Went back out put on a stock sock and its fine but the bottom of the 450lph is bigger than the 255lph so the rubber gromet on the bottom that holds the pump is to small. Is it ok to just use the stock one and wedge it tight with the adjustable "L" bracket.

Any one have any thoughts of what I can do? Should I drill out the sock feed line on the hanger and put the flare fitting through?

Also who sells a bilk hed to convert the pump to an -6an fitting

Re: Project V8killa

Little update: didn't get the gauges in and as far as I'd like but got some weight out

Took all the heating stuff out since this will be a summer cruiser it's not needed. Also took all the wool and pad off the firewall

Brad look familiar. Something made a nest in my blower motor

Gonna check to see if I can get any word on an ETA on my pistons. Also anyone have and idea how to mount the pump?

I used a -6 bulkhead found at summit racing.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ABT-TF602/

I used a cut off wheel to cut the fuel feed line off the top if the sending unit. Then used a unibit, drilling down through the feed hole untill the the fuel pumd receiver fell off. I then switched to a 14mm drill bit to finish the opening so that the bulkhead would slide through.

Next I cut part of the nipple off the top of the pump so that it wouldn't be to deep for the tank and connected the pump to the bulkhead with a 5/16 hose that came with the pump.

I trimmed down the rubber isolator for the bottom of the pump and secured it with the retainer bracket.

Re: Project V8killa

Update

Ostar has recieved my piston so now they have the rods and pistons but they were sent the wrong HG from cometic so I should have that stuff early next week and I can head up to gosh.

Also bought this stuff from STM

9' feet of russell pro classic -6 an lines
-6an staight fitting
-6an 90 fitting
-6an to 5/16 hose barb
Short aeromotive short filter
SS micron filter (e85)

I already have -6an lines from stock filter location so thats why I only order 9'.

Might, be done by proving grounds but not looking good. Definitely being optimistic though.

I have to do this to my siphon to I guess. The mod is to help keep base pressure down

What a baller!

That sucks you had the same thing happen with your blower motor! Hope you can get that shibby done by proving grounds and go kick some ass with it.

Re: Project V8killa

NOT making proving grounds. Still don't have my pistons or rods or headgasket. Rods and pistons are sitting at ostar but they were sent the wrong headgasket so there still waiting on that. I'm in no rush now as proving grounds isn't even possibly with the summer months and being busy with work.

All that means though is I can save for the right parts turbo, mani, ect. So I don't have to upgrade again later.

I'm hoping to make an event this year or else I'll be debuting this bish at the spring opener at DB

Re: Project V8killa

Little update

I got some parts in the mail perfect B-Day present

Now just have to get these parts, head and cams up to Gosh

Also did some tuners shopping this morning and bought a few things

Still need to pick up a
38mm MVS gate
tial BOV
SMIM
turbo

And here lies a question since i have a 2.4 should i go with a quicker spooling turbo like a 5862 BB or go 6466 BB? Or something in between like a 6266 BB?

Reason Im asking is I dont wanna bring the rev much over 8k as ive heard these 2.4's dont like it. I think the spool on a 5862 should be around 42-4500 leaving me almost 4k of boost and probably still capable of 550 @ db around 35-38lbs of boost.

Thoughts?

Re: Project V8killa

I think Mark's 2.3 with the 6266 spools between 4500-5000 rpms and makes 650 at DB. I think if you're just shooting for 550 then the 5862 should be fine and spool quicker for you.
